If this score against Pittsburgh holds, or gets even better (currently 31-7), and we finish 10-2 it’s a win-win scenario REGARDLESS of what happens in the CFP. We either:
A). Make the CFP (we should) as an at-large. If we don’t jump anyone, we should get in over ND and we don’t need to say much more.
B). They leave us out of the CFP and keep ND in. I know everyone keeps saying this is what the CFP is going to do but do you imagine the consequences they would face if this is indeed what they decide to do? Completely ignoring the H2H matchup? Their integrity and everything they stand for will be completely eradicated. They can’t argue ND looks better than us right now. It’s clearly not true. The only reason they’ll be putting ND over us is political and they will prove to everyone they’re the biased snakes that they are. The CFB world outside of Notre Dame ain’t gonna be happy. They should be just as outraged because if it can happen to us, it will happen to them. This would arguably be the biggest snub in CFB history. Two teams equal in every metric. One beat the other, but the CFP Committee chooses the team who LOST. This will be worse than 2023 FSU and 2000 Miami, the latter because it was a different era of CFB, different reason and system allowing FSU in over Miami.
So either we’re in, or the snakes and other undesirable insects on the CFP Committee and all involved will be fully exposed and nationally exposed for their political biases. I wonder, is pleasing their beloved ND worth showing this and the potential fallout? Because make no mistake, there WILL be national outrage not just from Miami and our fans, but every CFB program, especially those who have ND on their future schedules.
