I think I would gamble on spreading it over 3 years and hope NCAA does the same thing it did for Penn State and USC by reducing scholie numbers. Losing 7 in one year gives Big Al the not enough depth excuse in two years---If he's still here..

El Foldo didn't choose to take 7 this year. Guys got kicked out or quit. That's why our "sanctions" were a total joke. There was no way we were ever playing at 85. No one ever does.

Yep. He did a great job losing all those players from our roster for drugs and rape and whatever else. Really navigated that beautifully.

Conversely, if he's at 77 this year, doesn't that mean he can be at 84 next year and 85 the year after that and satisfy the "9" requirement?

9 total over these 3 years, but 1 minimum in each year.

So if we're at 77 now that's 8 under, but we still have to be 1 under in 2015 and 2016.
