We are so used to **** poor coaching that we think we have depth issues. UM 's team is littered with 4 star athletes. So this should not be surprising
 
The stats are impressive and it is safe to say we are better than last year but even Manny will be the first to tell you that we havent been tested yet.

FAMU- is 0-3 and hasnt scored more than 17 pts in a game this year.
FAU-is ranked # 121 in Total O and managed just 211 yds vs KState
App Store -is ranked # 117 in Total O and we all witnessed they have zero passing game.

So we just faced, arguably three of the worse offensive teams in college football. I would expect to have dominant D stats at this point in the season.

but KState has the #4 defense so theres that...but yea your right for the most part lets see how we fare against our ACC foes.....thats the most important stat
 
The Diaz led defense bears several similarities to Peyton Manning at Indy era defenses...schemed to play from an "in front" of the score position.

As the opposing O plays from behind, it puts more pressure on them to call an O that the Diaz D is truly built to wreak havoc upon. This Diaz scheme can be (has been) very effective on the "we gotta catch up" menu of play calls.

Big test sometime (many?) times this season will be when the Canes O is really struggling, can the new (old school again) Canes D rise to the occassion.

Once all the pieces are in place over the next dew seasons, I would think history shows that Miami is going to start to win A LOT more big games thn they have the since the down turn that started over 10 years ago.

Miami is 8th in the nation in defending 3rd downs. They've only allowed 10 conversions out of 49 attempts.

Miami is 14th in allowing first downs overall (and most of those came via defensive penalty).

They're getting off the field.
 
That's because we've been scoring on 5 plays or less. Also Richt doesn't use up very much play clock.

TOP is a misleading stat. Pull up total plays and that will tell the story. It seems to me we have just played teams who want to slow the game down and keep it away from our offense, while our offense has scored on big plays and quick drives.
 
It seems that Diaz is a better fit at Miami than he was at Texas or even MSU.

I think the local talent fits his scheme better than the players in Texas or Mississippi did. He probably failed at UT in part because he was using a scheme that didn't fit those types of players.
 
Our offense also gets to play with a shortened field due to our aggressive D (quick 3 and outs and interceptions ).

That's not true. We force spot of 3 and outs. We have been scoring mad quickly.

As long as the Offense is putting points (Tds) on the board, I'll take that stat.

is that you Al? it ALL matters because it tells the story of 3-0. Yards certainly mattered when we were giving up 500 yards every week to everyone. we did what we were suppose to against inferior competition. we have coaching
