Anyone else hear the announcer say that on Pitt's opening drive? Either that leads the nation or is near the top.

Said we missed 21 tackles vs. Clemson.

What is with this chicken wing tackle sh*t? I feel like I've been watching the same problem for YEARS across multiple coaching staffs. That photo of Etienne breaking the tackle on the sideline for a TD and the one of him hurdling our player is so typical of our defenders.

How do we address this? Does Manny need to start benching guys for not wrapping up? Is it the players we're recruiting? Or not recruiting?

Do we not hit in practice? I heard about a bunch of stuff about how we were teaching rugby for tackling but I don't seem to see it. Unless that fake targeting BS on Nesta at the end.

Pathetic....I blame the coaches for that and plus Miami just plays dumb. Blame the coaches fo that too. They need to fix that bs. Good win today tho.

If you call 9 targeting penalties against me I'd think twice about making an aggressive tackle too.

Dumb Players it's what dumb players do make mistakes and don't learn or refuse to get better.

This defense only works when the tackling is sound. The step back this year has been shocking.

true. No surprise our best defenses under Manny were when we had guys like Jaquan and Shaq to erase large plays with their tackling.

Good tackling a is a lost art.

Pete Carroll used to talk about how much form tackling he used to practice.

Our tackling as a team is absolutely poor.....lots of grabbing, small DBs going high and either bouncing off guys are going for a ride.

Good teams either tackle well or are forced to hit in practice until they learn how to. Guys hate to hit in practice. You have to set the tone that poor tackling and undisciplined play in games will lead to hateful practices.

Could you elaborate on this shocking step back for our defense this year? I hope you’re just talking about tackling but I wouldn’t even call it a shocking step back so idk...

The defense is giving up a big amount of 10+ yard plays coming into this week and the missed tackles are a huge part of that. The aggressiveness of this defense is predicated on great tackling and players swarming to help tackle to work. Without that this defense gives up too many big plays. The stats have been quoted before on this site.

Welcome to football 2020

tackle the wrong way and your kicked out of the game and it’s a 15 yarder

the rugby style tackling is king which I just think of it as just holding on while waiting for others to help drag down the player

Our defense is designed to work like it did on Pitt’s first drive. They’ll put together a few first downs but around our 40 we blew up a play for a huge loss, then collapsed the pocket with pressure on third down and forced a punt.

They trust their playmakers do that on nearly every drive.

The end.

This is my. biggest worry w this team. I've never seen a team explode so quick to the ball carrier just to miss a tackle.

Very concerning.
