WE ARE A 6-5 TEAM..... ACCEPT IT NOW

Miami probably won’t lose at home.

You guys haven’t even seen the canes play at home.

Team probably loses @PITT And @DUKe.

FSU is just as bad as Miami. So flip a coin.

3 wins tops. I apologize for attacking the poster that stated that UCF was the best program in the state. They are and we should try to emulate them. Hurts to say but it’s the truth

Acceptance is step 1. ****, at least maybe then we can overachieve moving forward lol.

What a bad loss smh.

NO COMES THE REAL TEST....

MENTAL TEST....

ARE THESE GUYS GOING TO FOLD FOR THE YEAR?

Are seniors going to start playing soft to protect their bodies for the NFL Draft?

Pickney, Quarterman, etc....

Why should they risk their backs and knees for a 6-5/6-6 team this year?

Pickney and Quarterman are borderline undraftable already. They'd be taken off a lot of boards if they quit on their senior season.

As hard to swallow as this 0-2 start has been and as many issues as this team needs to work through, I can see us winning the 3 games you listed. There are serious issues but the situation is far from hopeless.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not here to try to pump sunshine up your collective asses but from the beginning most intelligent fans knew that this would be a team that would have to work out some kinks early but would most likely improve as the season went on and maybe get hot towards the end. How that translates to wins and losses I have no clue but there are 2 things that you can be sure of when it comes to this game. You are never as good as you seem to be and you are never as bad as you seem to be.

It's obvious that this is a young team and young football teams tend to behave kind of like puppy dogs. You train them as well as you can and they begin to do the things you want them to do. Then the second you turn around they take a huge **** on your bed. I'm not throwing out the young team excuse but it's something that can't be ignored. The lack of discipline is alarming but I'm not quite ready to throw the towel in just yet.

The big question here is Manny Diaz. How does he react to this? How does he deal with the adversity? Does he let this team fracture or does he keep them together until they start to gel. Make no mistake. There is talent on this team. Certainly enough talent to go 10-2 against this schedule. The thing is that pure talent doesn't win football games. Well coached talent wins football games and that brings me to my primary concern. Does Diaz have what it takes to go through the bumps and growing pains and develop into a good head coach? I don't know the answer to that yet and 2 games is not a sufficient sample size. Related to that concern is the question of whether or not we have a good enough coaching staff. The performance by the defense was alarming in more ways than one and I saw a few red flags. We miss Jaquan Johnson and Sheldrick Redwine like you wouldn't believe. The linebackers seemed nonexistent and in fact looked more pedestrian than they did against UF. You would think that as 4 year starters in their senior year that Shaq and Pinckney would be the unquestioned foundation of this defense making plays routinely. Well you would be wrong. Not only have those two been underwhelming but they have regressed from last year. Our DEs were madly inconsistent against the run getting sucked inside routinely. For as talented as they are they have also been surprisingly average. The raw material is there but it's going to take a little time before they begin to mesh as a defense. 4th and 17????????? Like @k9cane said. "I knew there would be growing pains but good Lord!"

For the second year in a row the Special Teams are a clown show. Baxa misses another chip shot? I'm sorry but that's just unacceptable. Diaz should have hired a more experienced veteran coach to take over Special Teams not a green horn like Patke. This falls at Diaz's lap and it's the type of mistake a rookie head coach typically makes. Bottom line with Diaz is that we had better pray that his upside as a head coach is high enough and worth suffering through his growing pains. We shall see.

That being legitimately reasonable shows where this program is at. Administration has been living off that 20 year run for the past 16 years...
