Lane brings an elite offensive mind and solid recruiting. But it a double edged sword.Lane either gets run bc his demons return or he jumps when he’s at the top of his game for maximum leverage. He jumps from Old Miss. landing here would be great for 2-3 yrs, he leverages us and jumps. Maybe NFL. We’re back at square one. IMO, Mario offers us more stability at the top. Most elite programs have that. Good asst coaches come and go, and get replaced. The Top remains and maintains and sustains. The caveat? Gotta ***ing win.

all this talk about “demons” and no one can really tell me what his demons actually are. Far as I can tell he’s a bit of a carpet bagger and pearl clutchers don’t like that he actually has a sense of humor and isn’t a meathead drone. Not like he’s torturing puppies or covering up rape cases (that we know of).

Lane has a history of being controversial. He’s a contrarian. He’s got baggage. But that’s not my issue. He will leverage any advantage for a stepping stone to the next level, on his time. UM needs stability at the top. The top teams have that.

I’m not sure he jumps to NFL. May have learned from his tenure with Saban that some HC’s are better suited for college
