I think I know where your going?

Not all of us Canes disagree, or hate on Butch and the amazing assembly of talent that he created.

What we keep having a problem with......

Is the University having ridden out the success of literally the football team and creating a now brand.....

To only **** on the very thing that made the school known. Even out here in CA.

The school did not wise up and reinvest in him. And the school really has not invested in any part of the football program on a serious level for many, and I mean many years.

If the University of Miami does not get serious about keeping the image and brand and trying to be a nationally recognized college. The U will not mean ish anymore. We will become something like Wake Forest. Unfortunately we're already becoming too close to that as it is.
 
Not disagreeing, but it was already "put together" by Schnellenberger and those following him into the 90s. Butch definitely had to dig out of a hole due to NCAA **** we were in, but the brand was already here. I think all any of us want know is to re-establish a dynamic and winning brand which we've lost the last 2 decades

I didn't mean the brand, that's why I mentioned the guys Butch recruited, developed and coached. NEVER would I EVER try taking that from Schnelly.

Totally agree with you. I know the brand was already well on its way before Butch.

What I am saying, is that now. When you hear and see the commercials of the university. Literally Images of the U and it's colors. Plus talking to any average college football fan.

They know what "the U" is and means..

But..... Unfortunately what I'm saying is that it is going to become very much less of any real meaning the path we continue to be going on.

You mean Butch? The same guy who turned his back on THE U and even used a players death to recruit against THE U?

I appreciate Butch. But we are bigger than one coach! Butch needs Miami more than Miami will ever need Butch. He had his chance to be a legend here, he passed.

Plus, with it's completely different environment in CFB now. Those diamond in the roughs Butch use to find are getting exposure through YouTube, HUDL, 7on7, etc. Hes an amazing talent evaluator but he's also amazing at bubbling a guaranteed win away once a year too.

Butch was 1 coach. BUT......the last coach of our program that was worth an effing ****. Or, we certainly at least rolled out with his recruits. We more or less have not done s*** since then.

So......

I think us fans need to start turning or real passion and direction with some hostility towards the administration. At least the AD!

Miami needs to step up and start paying some coach in the neighborhood between 6 and 8 million a year for a real head coach and for real results. The dividend of merchandise sales much bigger bowl game payouts even divided with acc and everything else will be a massive return on its investment.

It's just 3 mill more per year. For results that are GIANT.

Think about if Miami was Ohio State right now. Yes I hate them too.

But really think about it. They have been consistently very strong for the same
time since our bowl game with them for a national championship.

if the University of Miami could hang with that level of importance that the football team brings to the school. The amount of money that would have been brought over these last 15 years is astronomical. Massive brand, influence, status, everything. And more money to spend on the school's lofty goals of academic excellence. Buildings! And ish.

Yet every year I read this board and see this player or that player that we wanted and he went somewhere else and blew up. Or players no one projected that become studs. Yes, it is less than in the past, but there was enough at FIU apparently to beat UM this year. And there is enough not being evaluated well at our program to keep us 6-6.

If we cannot compete for elite talent, which at this point we cannot, we need someone that can identify talent and build a roster. Butch can do that, but it doesn't really matter because he is not wanted here, and will not be back. However, he is the type coach we need. Richt was supposed to be a great recruiter, and even with all of the momentum of the IPF and winning the coastal the prior year last years class was a disgrace and we had decommits as usual. Once up and running it would be different, but for now, we need a Butch type evaluator.

What you see is face value, Butch did that **** to himself and he has no one to be ****ed off at but himself. If most people out there knew what was up, there would not be any conversation about why he's not back at UM. The man did build a straight machine, but for some reason he also thought he was the end all, be all...he is the one that chose to cross the line.

In no way am I defending the current staff. They are bums! But I think we can do better than Butch. And I only believe the environment around CFB is different today. Butch isnt luring first rounder types to FIU. Again, I appreciate what Butch did here. I just think we can do better!

Butch lost 5 consecutive games, beat Miami, and then lost to Marshall the following week.

The game has past Butch way by. He may have been the answer back then, but isn't close to being an answer now.

Show me a great coach that is not an egomaniac. Butch was an SOB, same can be said for Jimmy in some respects, and I would think Howard, especially from where he came from. That is what we need here. Dennis was a pushover and look what happened, same with Coker.
