I can't help, but wonder if Mario is wearing these guys down in practice over the course of the season. Bain, Mesidor, Daniels, the OL, and much of the back 7 (minus Scott)--heck, even CB--all played without juice: like they were worn down and otherwise unprepared to play a physical game in their highest gear.

As a former (high school) athlete, I know what it's like to play games with dead legs (because some bozo coaches never give time to rest and recover during the course of a long season) and these guys sure looked the part tonight--gassed and lethargic, being simply "out-physicalled" at the point of attack.

And putting two-and-two together--i.e. going on past history with Mario's teams at Oregon AND Miami--a common theme is late-season collapses. I think it's probably a combination of not getting better by making the proper coaching/preparation adjustments, AND wearing guys down physically at practice.

It is so frustrating to know that Miami is always at its best under Mario on Week 1. But after a bye week filled with intensive practices, it could make a lot of sense and be the culprit. Anyone know what they practice like during season? It is so frustrating to be a Miami fan.

Come on man we just need to get back to work.

OP you're more than likely on to something. Explains so much.

I don't expect the athletic department to actually be brave enough to fire him...yet.

this is a stretch. Was never a big Mario fan, root like **** for him but Louisville just beat them. beat Miami in the trenches, beat them in TO margin and also beat them in tackling

I think players just get tired of hearing the same tough guy rhetoric. It has to wear thin after a while. Another team just came in to your stadium and out schemed you on both sides of the ball. All they are going to get from the coach is “work harder” “be men” blah blah blah. What’s the plan to make the team harder to gameplan against? What new plays are being implemented to maximize the talent? They will get none of this. Just show up ready to work and hope that enough.

It's the 6th game of the season with 2 bye weeks. The NFL will be MUCH worse than anything they experience in 2 a days.

Sometimes, the play just isnt there. We just happen to call 30+ of them a game.
The games these days may be less grueling than the bye weeks lol. My point is we, as fans, do not know.

Think about how many reps one may do in a single practice vs. a game--it has to be close, if not more. What else can explain always (minus FSU in '25) coming out of a bye week lacking energy? It has to be in the preparation during the off week and we know Mario isn't lightening up from his rhetoric.
