Wasted Possesion Before Half

I’m surprised we didn’t try to call a timeout on Pitt’s 3rd down before they scored. Not only would it have helped regroup the defense, but we would have conserved 20+ seconds before the half to try and put together a 1 minute drive.

We played not to lose. Offensive coaches and players have gotten way too lackadaisical thinking they can just go through the motions and win games in the final possessions.

You are absolutely right but Richt blew 58 seconds NOT 20. It was a continuation of the entire year of mismanaging the clock. He is the KING OF POOR CLOCK MANAGEMENT. Pathetic coaching to say the least and it cost us
 
With the way these teams are trying to shorten games against us, we need to grab and make the most of every possession.

I think he has been pretty good this season with clock management.

Should have called the TO at the end of the 1H but probably saw how terrible Malik was and wanted to get in to the locker room and make adjustments.
 
we didn't lose because of lack of possessions ... Our QB couldn't hit the side of a barn from 5 feet away....
 
Reporters should ask about that...

Not asking questions about what kind of juice Richt drinks for breakfast or how good he thinks Diaz is as a coach

I 100% agree with this.

Richt gets a lot of unnecessary grief around here and I stick up for him due to him having to play a QB who isn’t very fast and can’t throw.

But that was him coaching with his balls in his stomach. Press that D and force them to stop you. That is one of the things I was most disappointed in today in terms of the coaching staff’s decision making.
 
yeah, clearly what this game was missing was a desperate attempt to force a risky and unnecessary drive with our insanely inaccurate QB when our D was playing well and we got the ball to start the half.

It wasn't only the offensive possession..... It was third down. Could have regrouped and stopped them there. That td catapulted them into the half. Absolutely horrible non timeout there.

I can see Richt wanting to get back in and regroup. The team had played better in the second half in every game until today.

I think this is why he said **** it let's get to the locker room; didn't see the point in giving Malik another drive when couldn't throw a beach ball in the ocean. Until we can line up and 'impose our will' on other teams, we will be reliant upon an accurate QB to move us down the field. Malik has never been a 60%+ guy, but he has been able to hit the homerun. **** didn't work today. At all.
 
Horrible decision not to call a timeout there. Not only do u waste 58 seconds but you have Zach McCloud running off the field at the last second all kinds of confusion and you give up a easy TD when we could’ve certainly held them to 3.

We shouldn't have wasted the last minute of the first half. Yes, Rosier wasn't accurate most of the day (and a Pick 6 or INT would have been devastating) but the lack of time left may have made him focus and even a FG would have made a big difference. If you're playing to win, you don't waste that last series in the first half. It also sends the wrong message to the team IMHO.
 
Yeah I’m getting sick of that bullsh*t. You had an opportunity to call a timeout after the 2nd and goal play and didn’t do it which would have stopped the clock with a minute to play. Every possession counts...
