Wasn’t pretty

Only gave up 141 total yards. Itt was dominant, even though it felt too close for comfort in the third quarter. We missed a couple chances to step on their throats, and the refs took one away inexplicably. But over the course of a full four quarters, it wasn't close.

FSU will be a different kind of test, but we're ready for that one too.

Lightfoot with the play of the game on the 4th down stop.

I would argue UF made the play of the game by their WR running his route 2 yrds short; it was wide open. What I saw from us is a better coached team, but no way should we’ve allowed them to hang around. To be brutally honest? This is why Mario has yet to field a CFP team despite the resources or talent discrepancy. When u face teams that r inferior & u allow them to hang around, u give them Imposter Syndrome. This is 2 of 4 games where we dominated & allowed inferior teams hang around creating undue anxiety.

If we play anything like this against better offensive teams moving fwd, we will see October - November woes. This was not just a bad UF team, it was a bad UF missing multiple starters. We played against a QB seeing ghost when he says “hike.” I know every victory is not going to be blowouts & I’ll take an ugly W or a bad L, but between ND & now UF, I have concerns. I felt way more confident at this same juncture last yr than this yr.

It happens. Rainy weather but didn’t like the lack of offensive rhythm in the third quarter. Even our greatest teams had clunkers that the defense just dominated. Can’t see it two games in a row and certainly not on the road.

Defense, lights out apart from a couple 2H drives. Fundamentally sound, very few penalties (if any?), solid tackling for a majority of the game.

Offense…mediocre, and that’s being kind. Our WRs struggle to get consistent separation, our interior run blocking is very streaky, and Dawson clearly didn’t trust Beck to push it downfield late.

Lot of work to do before a war against FSU.
I don’t blame the WRs at all. I saw the route combos and they were A$S! We sent the TE up the seam ZERO times! Gates defense just sat back in Cover 3 and we didn’t run ANY C3 beaters! Zero! **** was awful!

first time this year i felt he looked shook ... gonna see shell coverage the rest of the year
I’ve seen him enough to know that look in his eyes . He was 100 percent rattled and seeing ghosts. He can be very streaky. That’s three int’s in two weeks. Props to Marty for making the great catch on the flat throw. He was so shaken that pass was tough. He has to be better.

I feel the opposite. We have two sides of the ball that can make up for the other if they aren't feeling it not an option last year. I will say our defense also looked good through 4 games last season as well, but you can just look pre-snap and feel better about our alignment this year.

I have to re-watch, but I would believe it. The throws we did attempt downfield were pretty blanketed, even when Dijon went out. We struggled against ND to get consistent separation as well, but we chalked that up to them being an elite secondary.

I do think we struggle to get open, but the route concepts can certainly be more diverse.
