Affecting the decision to bench him?

Great question posed by Through The Smoke post game podcast.

Seriously, how can Mario justify continuing to play TVD, while we’ve seen RBs and other make one mistake, and not be seen for the rest of the game?

It has to be the money, right?

Wtf are you talking about. Mario kept playing TVD cuz he thought he could grind out a close win like Clemson/UVA by leaning on the run and D and TVD making just enough plays here and there. Wrong decision? Yes.

Relax young lady.

I thought it was great question raised by reporters that cover the team.. who are just as confused as us to why they keep putting TVD out there,

I was wondering about this too. In the NIL era you’d have to think the people paying big time money to players have either a direct or indirect voice. Mario might know if he doesn’t play TVD then the person paying big money won’t wanna pay that again for another player.

But, just as likely, Mario just doesn’t get it.

Exactly why I thought it was a great question.

No reason not to think guys fronting NIL, just like big money donors don’t have a say.

I do not think you can completely ignore the influence of all the efforts Mario put into TVD.

They made him the face of the program and dragged him to all those media days and photo ops. I can only imagine what he said to his parents and others trying to get TVD to stay here. Mario hitched his wagon, the program's wagon and the entire Canes nation's wagon to TVD and now he has to look in the mirror.

Not all men can admit their mistakes.

I thought about this at halftime.

Is there some pressure here?

What would be the actual pressure point? It's not like he has true NIL value, lesbihonest on that shall we.

Drew Rosenhaus says hi.
And I hope we didn’t lose defensive tackles because their nil went to tvd in order to keep him from Bama. Especially with Pratt willing to come.

It's something that has to at least be considered. But like another poster stated above, whatever the issue is, at some point you have to consider it a sunk cost move on.
