Was anybody excited when we hired Manny in December 2018?

Not excited. However, I was optimistic that he would fix some issues and make us a better team. I never thought he was going to be that coach that would take us to the next level (playoffs), he just doesn’t have that “it” factor, but I thought he would make us a 10+ game winner every year and have us winning coastal easily. Thought he would be better than Coker, Shannon, and Golden. Boy, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

There was no doubt in my mind that fake James was going to hire Mario. I was super excited about that. When we flipped manny from temple I literally ranted on a group text I have with some other die hard canes fans (who are close friends of mine, one of them was the assistant athletic director at the time) about how the program was done for good etc. I was livid. of course still routed as hard as I could for our team because truth be told I really couldn’t help it and still can’t due to basically growing up in the orange bowl during the win streak years. it’s in my blood. All of my close friends from the group text as well as some family members all had front row seats.(The assistant ad had now taken a job with the dolphins front office so he wasn’t there) Literally the very first row above the dug out in Marlins park next to canes cartel dudes for FIU game. The team was actually coming off a pretty convincing win vs Louisville the week before so we thought it would be a fun game to watch. It was by far the most toxic environment I’ve ever seen at any of our games ever. A total **** show nightmare. Haven’t been able to get any of them come to any games ever since. I was very surprised when manny wasn’t canned immediately after that game.
I’m looking forward to change ASAP.

I was extremely disappointed since the defense was a gimmick and got its **** pushed in against any team with a pulse.

Some of the off-season stuff got me excited but wasn't ever happy with him as a selection.

Just remember thinking what an uninspired choice ... seemed like a default hire made without much of search.
Here’s the thing. I don’t have anything against Manny. I truly think he has done everything he can and I don’t doubt that he has worked his *** off. The problem is that he was hired in the first place which isn’t really his fault though he should’ve been self-aware enough to know that he wasn’t ready for this challenge. I get why he took it because it’s his boyhood team even if he was a ***** hole.

Yes I totally think he has not done a good job not because of effort but because of ability and perhaps to a lesser degree due to resources but really it’s just because he doesn’t have it in him to do the job at this level at this time if ever. He’s the symptom not the cause he just gets the brunt of it because he is the one on the front line while the little **** hold behind the scenes Blake James continues to make us pay for his in ability to actually build champions or to conduct a proper search. And the board of trustees that has looked aside and the president that has done nothing have as much responsibility for the abdication of their duties to support the entire university from A-to-Z. I didn’t like Al Golden. Because I thought he was full of **** with his pillars. And I liked Randy because he was a cane but I didn’t really like him in other ways But there again I also understand why who took this job and he definitely was not given the resources so you don’t really fully know how much better it could’ve been with some money though I think the outcome would’ve been the same if just delayed.

This is an entire organization of failure from A-to-Z and if it isn’t rectified fiery Manny won’t fix it and I’m tired of this hamster wheel of incompetence going on over and over and over again. Fire blake James in the board of trustees and the president of his **** university better get their **** together this time

I was disappointed with how the whole process went down. I can see why you entertain hiring him if you do a thorough search. His defense was good up until that point. He wouldn’t have been a top 5 choice if mine but if you go through a process and he is what came out I’d support it. But a midnight hire less than 24 hours after CMR retired was dumb. Manny did some good things that offseason but I was still leery. UNC in 2019 is what did it for me. I never really bought in and best case scenario I thought King could be his Burrow/Newton and he’d win for one year. It just never happened.

Should he have been more self aware? I say yes, he's been around a while. I'm aware enough to know what jobs I'm not qualified or experienced enough to do. So should he. He should have realized starting at a place like Temple would have been best for his career. He won't get another head coaching spot again.
