Recruiting: JUCO DT Wally Aime commits to Miami

The Hurricanes brought a junior college defensive tackle into the fold, but he won’t be on campus for a year.

Walvenski (Wally) Aime, who plays for Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College and attended Olympic Heights High in Boca Raton, committed to the Hurricanes. He will join UM for 2016.

Aime, listed at 6-foot-5 and 295 pounds, played in the Palm Beach County High School All-Star Game in 2013, when he was a senior.

He is listed as a three-star recruit by Scout.com.

Kentucky was apparently heavily recruiting him per a Scout article back in April. FSU was beginning to show interest as well per SBNATIOn.

Aime Excited About Kentucky Offer

A top-notch defensive tackle at the junior college level is Walvenski Aime of Fort Scott Community College. He's a massive lineman at 6-foot-5, and 290 pounds, the size college programs throughout the nation covet.

One program in particular comes from the SEC, extending an offer Aime's way a few weeks ago.

"I was pretty excited about being offered by Kentucky," Aime said. "I'm hoping for more to come and to continue to gain more and more exposure. Kentucky is a great start. The coaches I've spoken with are wonderful. They always keep up with me. I really appreciate them."

Aime shared the contact he's had with the Wildcat staff so far.

"It's mostly been just handwritten letters that they've sent me," he noted. "They keep up with me and send letters to me and my family. It means a lot. We speak on the phone every now and then. They aren't putting me in any kind of rush. They have just been recruiting me moderately."

The junior college standout pinpointed one aspect about Kentucky that has stuck out to him already.

"They have two defensive linemen that will be drafted to the NFL this year," Aime pointed out. "One will go in the first round. That could be a huge factor in my recruitment. I want to go to a place that knows how to develop players at my position and sends them to the next level."

Wow is all I have to say about this commit. I haven't seen his highlights, but I beginning to think there may have been a reason why his highlights are private on Hudl.

Here is a video of Fort Scott CC's 3rd Game of the 2014 Season, look for #3 in white on defense he plays both D-end and Dtackle in the game.

Yall can make your own opinions.

I need help on this, because left to my own, the opinion defaults to the incompetence of the coaching staff and the auto assumption has to be that this is a huge mistake.

I am not saying it is a BIG mistake to let him commit because for one I have not seen his entire highlight tape nor is the video I provided unbiasedly edited, but he got worked out several times in the video by the Oline. An considering that both Tommy Tuberville and Mark Stoops thought highly enough of him to offer the young man, I will not speak badly about the young ZOE.

I am just thinking there are MUCH BETTER options still on the table and considering Miami will most likely only take 2 to 3 DT's for the 2016 class. In the end certain commits could be pushed out of the class to make room if better prospects want to come on board later in the year, so lets see how things play out.

Go Canes

Class:2016 (Junior College)

Fort Scott Community College has built a reputation for producing defensive linemen who go on to the next level to play college football. So it was natural that the University of Miami made its way to the heart of Kansas during the spring in its search for immediate help at the defensive tackle position. That's where the Canes found this DT, who just committed.

It had been over a week since Miami’s last commitments, when Reginald Henderson and Izon Pulley verballed to the ‘Canes. For a program that already has 24 players in its 2016 class, that seems like a long time. The silence broke today, with the somewhat surprising commitment of big junior college defensive tackle Walvenski Aime.

Aime, who is listed at 6-foot-5, 295 pounds, is a three-star player according to Scout, and is yet to be rated by the other services. He currently attends Fort Scott Community College in Kansas, and reportedly holds offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, and a handful of small conference schools.

4/22: Fort Scott DL Walvenski Aime (2016) - Aime is emerging as a player that could wind up with double-digit offers soon. Over the past couple of weeks he's hauled in offers from Kentucky and Cincinnati and he's got several more programs from Power Five conferences that are looking his way. As a freshman last season, Aime posted 11 tackles from his defensive tackle spot.

That is an interesting breakdown, but the deeply concerning item is that Aime's had only 11 tackles for the 2014 season! Even in a 2 gap system that is very low.

Go Canes

That sounds about right for DT's in our scheme.

He'll fit right in at Miami, this team plays D just like the Canes :puzzled:

To be fair, this is a highlight film for the OTHER TEAM. I could put together a tape of Dan Marino looking like complete **** if I find one of their blowout losses. This reel means absolutely nothing. Also, isn't the team they were playing always one of the top JUCO teams in the country? They make a LOT of people look bad.

He played in 4 games for the 2014 season and had 11 total tackles. So even if it an opponents highlight tape, he is getting worked out an almost every play. Come on now. But for what UM does we need him to take up blockers and be happy about it so the LB's can run free.

The biggest issues are his highlights are private an this makes us have to paint our own picture.

Go Canes

Okay so am I the only one that had my jaw drop to the floor at these workout #s ?.....(yes they are probably exaggerated but even if he is even close to this he is an A+ athlete at DT!! Wow! This kid could definitely be a 1 gap DT with this kind of athleticism..I offer him on that alone. At almost 300lbs he runs a 4.7 with a 35 inch vert??? that cant be right..Good god. )
