I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I understand he wanted to avoid injury to protect his NFL status. But on the other hand, you join the team to play and compete. It’s a team sport, and you put the team ahead of yourself.
I’m sure some of you are thinking, especially after reading the article, that he needs to provide for his child and younger sibling. I agree; but the NFL is no guarantee. He can also finish his degree and find a career that would also provide for his family, with more certainty than the NFL.
Again, I am truly torn as to whether I agree with his desire for self-preservation or see that move as self-centered. I’m curious to see where others fall on this issue.
