Walter Brantley 2014 NT as a late Prospect UM should take a hard look at, for the type of 3-4 defense UM's runs Brantley would be an ideal space eater with a red-shirt year. Brantley list his stats as 6'3" 330lbs (I think its about 350lbs) but what is undeniable is his strength (370lbs bench & 550lb Squat) at the holding the point of attack against double teams, he also displays an outstanding motor for such a big player. Which is why he has been named multiple years to the all region and all state teams in Virginia.

Which his highlight video he uses his hands well to disengage from blockers as well as his long reach to cause fumbles. There are several plays where he is cut but gets back up and still makes the play.

Most of the SEC's schools were sending him mail early on but stopped because he had SERIOUS ACADEMIC issues, so he become a hot commodity for JUCO schools who came at him hard. But Brantley finally got his grades in order and received a qualifying SAT score in late January by which teams most teams had filled their 2014 spots.

Article discussing Brantley's academic issues

Brantley comes from a high profile program Phoebus HS in Virginia so playing tough competition has showcased his on the field abilities an with the raising his academics he has demonstrated his off the field abilities when motivated an hopefully he has learned his lesson about slacking off.

2014 NT Walter Brantley Highlights

Brantley Plays with a toughness and mean streak. Notice at the end of the video where an opposing OL cuts him and Brantley in turn punches him in the back of the head! (however in college that may draw a foul, but you have to love the tenacity)

Paranos, serious question, if you can find these guys, don't you think the staff can too?

They've never offered any of the "hidden gems" you've found. I'm sure there is a reason for that.

Okay let's take a head count!

Got Offer:
Coutrel Jenkins NT - UM
Donte Wilkins NT - ended up at UVA
DJ Reader - Ended UP at Clemson

Got Looks by staff
Sam Schwab - Juco kid whom Jethro took a look at, but decided to go another direction per Scwhab's JUCO coach.
Jarvis Loftin - A staffer went to evaluate him at one of his games.

so NYstateofmind you can think that if you want to an I will do what I do quietly; I just don't put laundry in the street, remember We Are Canes an someone is always watching.

But this thread is supposed to be about Walter Brantley as a possible UM prospect.

Consider this fact also in 2013 when the state of Virginia had 3 DT's named in the Top 20 national list of DT's, Brantley made 1st team all state. Two of which were in the Top 5 in the country (Adam Brown and Derrick Nnadi).

Nice try.

Jenkins was on our radar way before you "discovered" him. D'Onofrio liked him for some time.

Schwab and Loftin were passed over.

I can't speak for the other two. All I know is Walter Brantley will not be a Miami Hurricane, the thread title is incredibly misleading and you have quite the imagination.

Ill give Paranos Wilkins but at the same time he was a little late on getting attention from most schools and at the END UM had their guys who they wanted at dt and being from VA he was **** near a UVA lock in the end. I will say that I was a fan of that guy

I don't mind the work Paranos puts in, but he needs to learn how to phrase his thread titles.

Unless you specifically hear that UM has interest in a kid, then don't put that he is a 'UM late Prospect'.

Savvy?

Paranos as it's been stated here multiple times it's your thread titles and assumption of UM interest (from both parties) that bothers people. Not the fact that you find these guys and bring them to the board.

it's the title and the "if UM offers than can probably have him b/c he is looking for a combination of academics and football" when UM has never made contact with 20 kids i've him make those statements about.

This board sucks badly enough, why give Paranos undue criticism? Board has really become a tiny upgrade to the Canestime free board. Very sad, had so much potential.

Paranos is providing information and videos. Others are providing criticism. So his titles are potentially misleading, now that you know that take the title lightly.

Brantley has reported he now has a 2.67 core gpa and scored a 21 on his ACT.

An apparently now he will visit Bama in April and is working on a visit with WV. An apparently UVA, Marshall, and Va tech are getting back in touch with after two years since they like everyone else thought he was JUCO for sure.

So just to clarify Bama, UVA, Va Tech think he is worth another potential look as a late addition despite having full classes in some cases, but Miami is on the fence about a two time all state NT from Virginia. An keep in mind Virginia has produced some stellar dlinenmen in the last 3 years.

What is wrong with this picture especially considering UM's Co-starter at NT last year was a 4 year back-up/3rd string at UVA. It would be nice to take a gem NT before they blow up somewhere Else.

Go Canes

LOL, people all over Paranos' jock again. I, for one, appreciate the effort put in and don't care what most of the thread titles read like. If it's made to look like a commit, then I'd care, but this isn't.
