Here is another Kid from the DMV area that will be enrolling this summer. His High School: Good Consul in Maryland. 6'0 205 lbs

I found an analysis on him from this website: SPORTS RECRUITING

Jared Hardie is a very disruptive perimeter defender, Jared can run, close and hit as good as any linebacker. He plays taller and a lot faster than his listed measurables. He has a good blend of first-step quickness, acceleration and body strength. Jared covers a ton of ground quickly in the short-area and he displays smooth hips and good footwork. Jared takes direct angles without a lot of wasted motion. He excels as a vertical attacker and pass rusher as well. Anticipates the snap, flashes explosive quickness and can effectively dip and rip under the blocker's pads to get the edge. Not just a speed and quickness linebacker, he exhibits good upper-body strength for his size. He does a good job of stringing the run out to the sideline. You need to block him from the backside as well because he shows very good range and backside chase speed. He exhibits above average mobility in coverage and soundly reads the quarterback anticipating the pass.

Hey, smart addition. Sounds like the kid fell off the radar after injuring knee in a car accident. Doesn't hurt to bring him in and all the better if he develops into a player.

Is it just me, or does he look like he's trying to bring down an elephant with every tackle? He doesn't mess around.

If you recruit and close on the better talent you would not have to hope you find that hidden gem. Since he is a walkon I really don't care. His film didn't show the speed he profile says, but he's suppose to be an Ivy League caliber brain so I'll give him a chance.

The video in the original posting is from 2 years ago, which could explain the difference in on field speed appearance vs reported stats.

Here are his Senior Year High lights from the 2014 Season. He appears to have better instincts and improved reaction speed. He is a good pick for a walk on player that can add an athletic body in practice.

I like the other 2015 walkon John Tauber from IMG Academy better and he enrolled for the 1st summer session so he has a jump on Hardie. Either way they are both good pick ups for walkons.

Similar to Armbrister except he is coming in already as a LB with 20 more pounds than Armbrister had out of hs. Expect about the same type of career at UM. Hopefully we are never in the situation this guy has to start but could be a great special teams guy and potentially could make the 2 deep and earn a scholly in a few years.

If the class of 16 and 17 LB stay committed then he should be just a special teams ace type player here.

Lacks the size and speed to play at this level.

He's 205 and will most likely RS this year. He should come back as a RS Freshman around 220 thats solid. Armbrister came in as a safety weighing 185-190 and was a solid player.

If we were seriously recruiting this guy and offering I would agree, but we are letting him walk on and compete. He looks like a solid player and he will be fine if he is limited to a special teams role and garbage time. Can't expect too much out of a walk on.

We need to stop doing this crap. I hope to God AG disn't intend on wasting a scholarship. We don't need any more Fentress's

For those who are interested in comparing the John Tauber to Jared Hardie this is the highlight video for Tauber.

He's a preferred walk on, not on scholarship. He may earn one down the road but I doubt it.

Good walk ons make the team better. No harm in taking ones that can actually contribute, even if it is just in practice.

Tauber is a baller... imo worthy of a scholarship... A blue collar football player... he can read... and he strikes instincts that can't be taught.. like you can't coach jukes for an offensive player.

Stop doing what "crap"? Accepting quality walk on players that at the very least provide good practice squad time? No scholarships are being used, so why so upset other than because you have a need to whine?

I thought his highlights were impressive as well. I noted too that he was the defensive MVP at IMG. Where do you see him playing in our defense?

isn't tuabers issue suppose to be speed?

i wouldnt mind an armbrister. he was a slow safety and late signee who put on weight, improved his speed and will now play in NFL. Cornelius, rodgers, AJ, etc were all way less productive and much higher touted.

Tauber is actually a very good walkon prospect from the film. He has excellent size and speed as well. He could very well end up being a factor as a walkon.
