there is no excuse not to have a bunch of plays for Barkate in your pocket. And after the speech this week about Mali not being the center of the offense, I really don't understand what happened on Friday. It seemed like the plan was to get Lofton more targets all night. IDK if that was intentional or if he was the only one open...
💯
Barkate should be getting 6-8 targets a game
Mali can’t get every
**** ball
It’s dumb not having a more
Diverse passing attack when we have the players all
Over the field

Interesting to compare the verdicts on here to what the national media are saying. All I see is Miami is legit, Miami took care of business, Mensah had another Heisman worthy performance, the game was never really in question, etc.
They don’t watch like we do

Especially given what Dawson has said numerous times. He wants touches for many receivers.

True but does your post not hold true for every team in CFB? By week 3 haven’t all the weaknesses been exposed?

ND has no explosive running plays
OU’s QB can’t pass
Oregon’s defense is weak
OSU is too dependent on JJ Smith
IU is good but Hoover isn’t Mendoza
Manning can’t read defenses and throw from the pocket

So to your point, isn’t every fan base writing something similar to your post? And aren’t we all correct? And if every team is flawed, what does that say about UM’s chances against the other flawed opponents?

My point is more directed at our trends historically.

TYPICALLY (yes, there are a few exceptions) we see the same habits of our seemingly small warts going from "signs" to full on season derailing issues once the back half of our schedule gameplans accordingly. This conference has done a great job attacking our weakness over the last 20+ years.

Hopefully we make the necessary adjustments. More often than not, we fail to do so in season.

Appreciate the detail and agree, especially on getting stuff right and finding some solace in the win. The schedule worked in our favor this year when it comes to that.

On the OL. I understand the reluctance to have majority young bucks out there with the communication and coordination needed. But if there’s ever a time for trial by fire it’s this week. This is a horrendous Central team. It’s like Jimmy said. You take your X’s and O’s, and I’ll take my Jimmies and Joes. The guys referenced have ceilings through the roof and there will be growing pains to go along with the great moments. I’m not saying any are Maui at this point, but Maui was not impervious to false starts, holdings, and getting beat. He had his fair share of trials and tribulation.

Get the biggest, nastiest, strongest, and most motivated and work it out.

I tried to rewatch the game but had to turn it off after the first drive. Our guards were literally bad on almost every play. Holy ****.
This right here. The first drive was beyond bad, but i think Max played better as the game went on. At least he wasn't as glaring a hole as he was on the first drive

What an idiot. Wisconsin played Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Washington, and Bama.

What an idiot. It's not about "schedule", it's about the quality of the team, and Wisconsin was TERRIBLE last year.

Wisconsin lost by 24 to Alabama.
WISCONSIN LOST BY 17 TO MARYLAND AT HOME.
Wisconsin lost by 14 to Michigan.
Wisconsin lost by 37 to Iowa AT HOME.
Wisconsin lost by 34 to Ohio Taint AT HOME.
Wisconsin lost by 14 to Oregon.
Wisconsin lost by 24 to Indiana.
Wisconsin lost by 10 to Minnesota.

That is 8 double-digit losses. That doesn't make Wisconsin a good team or better than Wake Forest. Two of Wisconsin's FOUR WINS came against Miami of Ohio and Middle Tennessee State. Even if you grant Wisconsin six "good losses", they also lost to Maryland and Minnesota.

Meanwhile, what did Wake do last year?

BEAT ranked UVa (who went to the ACC-CG)
Lost to Duke on the road (who won the ACC-CG)
Lost in OT to GaTech
BEAT SMU

So that means they played 4 of the 6 best teams in the ACC last year, and went 2-2. In other words, two of Wake's FOUR LOSSES came against teams who were in the ACC-CG tiebreaker for the second spot in the game.

Anyone who can't see that Wake was a better team than Wisconsin last year is an idiot.

Own your idiocy.

I agree that we should’ve brought in a veteran IOL. I was fine passing on Seaton for a bunch of reasons but we could’ve used a physical guard and a blocking TE.
Do any of the newer TE’s show promise?

It’s funny that we have rightly criticized the OL but they have a zero pre snap penalties.

After a rewatch, there’s something else I noticed that’s kind of getting glanced over in the midst of other problems (line play, play calling). Mensah had multiple missed reads in the second half that cost us first downs/explosive plays. I know even the best quarterbacks miss open guys but when you are struggling as bad as we did in the second half, ignoring wide open guys to throw to covered ones can be the difference between scoring another 14 points or going 3 and out five times in a row. Just one conversion could have impacted the game significantly.
