If we finish 2020 at W8 L3 ranked 25th, my feelings would be:

  • Very satisfied; Diaz coming back or even getting an extension is A-OK with me

  • Happy we improved, but not too satisfied; wouldn't even mind much if Baker and others were replaced

So after 2 seasons W7L6 & W6L7 what would a W8L3 ranked 25th feel like? Probably Blake-1,AD would be getting out the HC-extension paperwork, and Blake-2,DC getting renewed, but how would CIS genuinely feel about such?

8-3 should be our floor.

NC State has a decent record, but isn't good statistically on offense or defense. Bye week blues is the real worry.
G'Tech will give us fits from a running qb, but we're a better team top to bottom.
Wake is another NC state.

That leaves v'tech and unc. We could lose both of those and not be shocked.

I voted other because this is an offseason question. Asking it now is either hoping for the best because the season sucks or expecting the worst because the season is going to suck.

Enjoy 5-1 and hope we can enjoy 6-1.

How many teams have gone from 6-7 to the playoffs or to a NY6 bowl game? I wish we were winning by more but we are winning. I think we have to learn how to win/close and we have taken some steps in the right direction.

I think it’s a bit of a miss to be calling for our DC to be fired when we sit at 5-1 and his unit has given up 14 and 19 in our last two games. I’m not a fan of Baker to be honest, but the defense hasn’t been terrible considering the limitations we have with our current talent on that side of the ball.

i also think it will be tough to get coaches moving forward if we are calling for heads to roll while sitting at 5-1. Hopefully we start playing more complete games soon.

All I care about is keeping this recruiting class intact! Anything that allows us to do that and fill the last 2 spots with some top talent (CB and not a RB) gets my vote. We need to turn the corner on talent. While we have had some decent classes, the big gets have fallen apart (some through transfer, some through not playing this year and some through just sucking). Our momentum is heading in the right direction. We just need to do this again finishing this year and next. I get that coaching staffs have different styles but if these guys are plug and play stars, we are trending in the right direction. That is how you go from 6-7 to making the playoffs eventually.

I believe we should trust Manny Diaz to fix what is broken like he did the offense and Special Teams but no extension yet unless recruits demand it to come here. Look at this class (his first) and what is on the horizon. Be stupid to mess with what he is building as quality recruits are lining up for the U

Thanks to all that voted (or commented). It looks like roughly 2/3rds of those expressing themselves wouldn't even be satisfied with current management if we finished with an 8-3 record and ranking (and bowl game)... certainly an "above average" team (and some debate even that) is far from acceptable either to most at CIS.

The discussion about the above in Franchise's recent post/thread influenced me to make this poll. A couple folks objected to my wording or the fact I even made the poll; I'm just trying to actively participate and have been a huge Canes fan for 60 years. I was raised in OpaLocka but now in Perry south of Tally (ughhh.) Sorry if anyone was offended; not sure why you couldn't send me a private objection rather than attempt to embarrass me, but heck, it is what it is, and some folks will do what they do. Go Canes.

This board is out of wack right now, not all posters but it seems the negativity is behond the behond. I'm optimistic for this game coming up. One game at a time mentality. We are going to be fine.

19 to a team missing their starting QB
9 by the defense and 10 given to Pitt by our offense. The defense held Pitt to a field goal following one interception and the other time Pitt took over at the 1 freaking yard line. Give me a break with the 19
