VT week...

We had a by week with lack luster practices per CIS ,these things shouldn't be happening before making a run to recover the season. This isn't my or our doing it's the players how can players not practice hard for a game like this mystery so with this happening , yes VT game may not turn out the way we want.

You play the way you practice , I want to be wrong in this we're not good enough to switch it ON and OFF.

Feels like this rivalry has been dormant since about 2010 ish. I've witnessed VT celebrate wins at the Orange Bowl like they had just won the national championship. Most notably in 1996, 1998, 2004. The hatred has subsided since both teams suck but being at Lane Stadium in 2005 was the culmination of my being.
 
Rumor that Ryan Willis will be benched at QB and VT is going to start Hendon Hooker against us.

Hooker is a 3rd year sophomore who entered the portal in the spring but withdrew his name and stayed with the program.

He was a 3-star, pro-style QB who is 1/2 for 8 yards passing in his career (pass came last week when Hooker played 3 series in relief of an ineffective Willis). Did not throw a pass last year and redshirted in 2017.

Big kid, he's 6'4 and 225 who can run but is not a running QB. Had some big time offers out of HS. We'll see if he does get the start, but it's been rumored.

6) We have excellent film on how to exploit them.

7) We have two weeks to prepare.

8) This game is at home and will feature a larger, louder crowd than our first two home games.

Better get up quick or drown in boos

Losing this game would be a fireable offense. That said, I expect a nail-biter.

2017 was the furthest thing from dormant. But, overall, the two programs have been too mediocre for anyone to care outside the two fanbases.
 
Do they get their act together in practice all week...

....or does Manny have to give them another day off to heal their hurt feelings from the week long criticism of their CMU performance??

Have there been reports on any of the other practices following that Wednesday massacre one? Or are the players still hungover from all the dancing following the big CMU win?

This a billion times!!! This is EXACTLY what's happening. They aren't adjusting to the realities of their situation, they are approaching games as of they had BAMA talent with BAMA conditioning and BAMA training.

They have to win NOW. If they tank the rest of the way, I don't see how Enos doesn't get canned at the end of this year and unless Manny performs a miracle next year, the count down will be on for his ouster.

Whatever they have to do, even if it's to run wildcat 50% of the time, or form the Iron T and run it like football from the 1920's, they better figure out how to compensate for that OL and a QB who likes to go through all of his progressions until he's sacked.
