Vols Tears

I love it. Flying back over the summer to Knoxville Children's Hospital ads and visits, bye week in front of Avery atop THE HILL doing awkard PILOT FLYING J co spots with Rick Barnes wearing a bright Volunteer orange tear away with an Oregon ducks t-shirt underneath.

Hey pay me. You're talking hundreds of thousands so it has to cross their minds. Only wondering if new obligations are written with stop all your current **** language

Interesting thought I love
I certianly hope the contracts evolve. I was very surprised the UM contract required so little of the player and does not require playing as a prerequisite of being paid.

Nico should have jumped in the portal back in December when we were interested. He could have made an easy transition and got the NIL. Now I'm not sure anyone is going to want to deal with him. I believe he's trying to go to Georgia.

We will see how it plays out for Nico. I like UT taking the hard line approach here. My sarcastic point was we always hear these types of shade thrown out against one side or the other.

Cam's dad was very overbearing and enabling Cam to make poor decisions at about the same age as Nico. Cam clearly grew a ton on and off the field and will be the #1 pick. Nico has time to improve in both parts, but that is up to him.

Remember Georgia fans and websites said our starting QB has a poor work ethic, etc. etc... we have even seen a few comments here...
You have some good takes you have some **** takes

But knocking cam or his dad seems like total bull**** apples and oranges one here. Sometimes I wonder if you’re just the slowest developing troll in cis history tbh

Not sure why you were surprised on that. It’s explicitly not allowed to be pay for play even if we all know it is

This topic has been discussed previously. Not sure why it is a calamity to discuss similarities or differences to TVD or Cam or Beck since all transferred, all have had some type of NIL related commentary, social media or message board shade, etc…

Supposedly he tried to renegotiate NIL during the playoffs last year that is insane
Josh Pate had a segment about this situation tonight. Apparently he wasn't the only player who tried to do that on a playoff team. Pate said he heard one of the points of "discussion" was "My client was paid for 12 games and now you are in the playoffs. He is owed more for more games."

He said a few teams had to deal with that...

honestly I sort of get this in theory. Especially since the school will absolutely reap the playoff rewards. Just surprised it was a QB doing it lol

Watch him play and he has shown nothing…not one phase of his game makes you go “ok there it is”

He can’t read defenses, he doesn’t run well, no touch and “ok” arm strength. It truly wouldn’t shock me Lagway isn’t healthy that UF got involved for a 1 year fill in.
No SEC to SEC transfers allowed after Spring window

I love it. Porsters are only capitalists in the “Off-Topic” & “Town Hall” forums.

It's not about being an ideologue; it's about realizing that college athletics are unique because its organizational structure creates misaligned incentives in which competitive, nonprofit entities, unbeholden to shareholder interests, are motivated to spend every possible dollar to advance their mission. This has resulted in profligate deficit spending, where even the highest revenue earning programs are operating at a loss. The majority of the people who are advocating for the implementation of spending controls within college athletics, are doing so not because they are against player compensation, but because they are trying to avert an eventual implosion.

Spending controls are necessary within college athletics for 3 main reasons:

1.) Prevent financial ruin for member institutions

2.) Maintain competitive balance/parity

3.) Better protect the educational & medical interests of student athletes

If the NCAA is granted a limited anti-trust exemption future situations like the one involving Nico could be avoided, because NIL deals would be paid at fair market value. Pair that with the upcoming revenue sharing model, & CFB can once again return to what matters, namely: evaluations, player development, & building legacies.

If these programs are constantly operating at a loss, the problem will solve itself. How long are ultra wealthy boosters (that’s who’s paying a majority of the money) going to continue to invest in something with little to no return. It’s hilarious that we need some kind of salary cap to keep rich people from wasting their money. You’d think financially literate people will eventually say “enough is enough”.

The contracts are specifically for name, image and likeness. By NCAA rule, you can’t pay for play so they can’t make any kind of performance based provisions. All a player has to do is fulfill his contractual obligations.
