OU, Miami, OSU, LSU, USC, Texas, UF, LSU, UF, Bama, Bama, FSU, Bama/Clemson......all teams who won the title since 2000, all had top 10 defenses.

If you don't have a top 10 D, you need Cam Newton, Tom Herman, and a ton of luck.

This is not saying I dont want a top 10 defense....but Don't believe what these porsters are telling you about how the world is ending... would I have wanted him over Diaz? **** yes but he is not some god... he went into a great situtation at Wisconsin DO you know what Wisconsins defense was ranked before Aranda got there? Wisconsin was #12 in 2011 ..Total D was ranked #15 in 2012. YEa he took them to 3rd 4th and 7th but lets not act like Wisconsin hasnt dominated in years prior. He spent a year at Utah State in 2012 where they were ranked #14 in Total D very good Aranda. You know what they were ranked this year #17. Is he a great coach?yes. Is he the end all be all? no Why was he so bad at Hawaii where he ranked 82nd and 73rd in Total D?? Did he all of a sudden change his philosophy? No he got in a better situation and in addition got better.. THis is not a bashing Aranda thread this is a look what we can do with who he have thread..


WE get more talent then Missouri and Missipi State..You dont think these coaches are in a better situaton??We have a DL coach that is the #1 DL coach in the country and has made savages for missouri for years.. We are going to be running a scheme that will alolw this guy to flourish. You dont think coach Kool will be having some input into this Defense? Hoping AQM stays........ With Chad, D Jackson , Grace and our Linebackers coming back along with our croots We have the Dudes in the front 7 that can make this defense dominate. We are more talented them MSU. Now We need to get more dudes like Richt said. We cant have Trent Harris at LB.. or Dallas Crawford at safety.. but we can flourish in this system. Hate to quote Dorito but in this system it is about the jimmies and joes.. ANd we can finally let these dogs lose..

This year at Florida ranked 9 in Total D!!!

In the same phuckin conference!!!!!!!

Yes he runs a 4-3 that attacks and gets in the backfield!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

89 percent of National Champion teams since 2000 have had a top 10 defense.

So the likelihood of us winning a title with a guy who can't get us one is minute. Vern admitted he doesn't expect it. If you don't expect elite defense, you are seriously soft shouldered.

hey smart ***, if you read bleak's post then you know there's no reason Diaz can't have a top 10 defense here. I would like to see any coach go to MSU and field one playing in the SEC west division. good luck with that.

Great post. People are neglecting to mention how good wisky was before Aranda and how good Utah state still is after him

Akso he costs probably 2.5 times much as Diaz so we can spend more on assistant coaches and nab Moffitt and Raymond
 
Man, incredible that after what we went through we still have people that would prefer a 3-4 defense from the big 10.

2013 Auburn made the title game with the 87th ranked Defense.

2010 Oregon made the title game with the 34th ranked Defense.

2008 Oklahoma made the title game with the 68th ranked Defense.

At Clemson his first year they gave up 24.8 points per game

They gave up 667 yards to FSU

I think we're going to get some great recruiting classes and that we will put the team together

LOLOL amazing, now we don't need elite D at Miami. Spent 5 years *****ing about bad D, hired a guy who coaches bad D, now D doesnt matter. Can't make it up.

This is Miami. The goal is to win titles here. Anything else is a waste of time. Manny Diaz is not the kind of DC to help you win a title, as you essentially REQUIRE a top ten defense to do so.

At this point I would take just getting into the conversation. And then tweaking it from there. Enough with the national championship or bust mentality. Times have changed. The goal is to get into the final four and have a chance.
