I don’t know if its been done in the ACC but it def was done last year OSU didn’t win the big ten but won the NC
We never won the acc ever that’s what I mean

Ever

Has that ever been done? A team never winning its conference in its history and wins the natty instead? Honestly asking

Alabama also has won the national championship in 2017 without winning the SEC.

The difference is that those teams at least played in the conference championship games. Our conference screwed us out of playing in the GAME.

We're this f'ing close to what most if not all thought would never happen. Sheet, the emotions, they're real. Let's go Cane's, smash Ole Miss and bring us what the other sides got.

That field looks fast
When I was stationed at Luke I spent a good amount of time near the stadium. Not sure what the process is now, but every time I would drive by that stadium the grass would be rolled outside and getting watered. It’s weird to see no green anywhere, then see some bright green grass outside. It’s a cool area and a nice stadium.

asked chatGPT - the answer is no:

Excluding independents, there is no Division I (FBS) team that has won a national championship while being a member of a conference it had never won.

A few important clarifications that make this airtight:
  • Some teams won national titles without winning their conference that season (e.g. Alabama 2011, Georgia 2021).
👉 But they had already won that conference in earlier years, so they don’t qualify.
  • Some teams changed conferences and later won national titles (e.g. Nebraska, Oklahoma in the Big 12).
👉 In every such case, they won the new conference championship before or in the same season as the national title.
  • Cases that look close (Penn State 1982/1986, BYU 1984, early Notre Dame titles) all fall apart once you exclude independents, as you correctly did.
  • Even conference “rebrands” or mergers (e.g. Big Eight → Big 12) don’t break this rule: teams like Nebraska and Oklahoma won the Big 12 itself before claiming national titles.

Bottom line

If a team has:
  1. Been in a conference (not independent), and
  2. Won a national championship,
then at some point before or during that title season, they had already won that conference.

No counterexample exists in the poll era or CFP era.

I think its more of the ACC hiring bad refs, also those refs are the age where they have seen UM at its peak. THey could secretly hate us who knows, but they need to rehire or take a big look at the refs. I need to mention that in my next vid, I never complain about refs until this season.
ACC refs did the Cheez-It bowl and both teams involved set their single game penalty highs for the season
