Talk about working in silence. One thing that I hadn’t realize was the timing.
So Mario managed to get a bunch of the most highly rated recruits in the country to come down to Miami during Mother’s Day weekend and I believe at least half of those kids are out of state.
That’s some serious hard-core recruiting right there. There is no way most of those kids visiting alone. Having to make sure that these kids came along with family members and even their moms is huge.

And to top it all off, he got 2 targets to commit during the weekend and it’s not even over yet.

I stopped paying attention to the early early early mock drafts when they had Logan Thomas as the #1 pick back in the day.

I disagree. To be able to recruit like Butch did (especially from 97-2000) under those circumstances will never happen again. Imagine taking 31 schollies from Mario, and then for the next 5-6yrs put 25 1st rounders into the league....Unconscionable...

from what we were in 97 with like 50 scholarship guys, to then having a real solid 98(and you could see where this was going) was amazing...

Butch really was great at getting in transfers, grey shirting, putting guys on track scholarship (Santana Moss), etc, it was amazing the job he did

Not sure if you guys remember it being discussed in another thread but I wrote previously that Mario's house is close enough to campus (literally, by a few feet) to adhere to NCAA proximity laws about recruiting events. He can host recruits there all he wants. I'm pretty sure he sent compliance out house hunting with Jessica lol.
