Virginia Tech will never again be as great as Miami

I was at the sugar bowl in 99. Vtech had the best player on the field and all of CFB that year Michael Vick. He made all the overrated 1st round FSU defenders look silly. That was Vtech's only shot at a title and they were way overmatched.

1. Santana made them look like **** when we played them earlier.
2. U are correct... Vick was best player.... But Warrick was the difference.... That bobbed td catch did them in

Santana made FSU look like $h!t that year also. Could've won 11 games that year if we didn't have that meltdown vs ECU, and give up that late TD pass to that school that covered up child rape.

Point is that Vtech will probably never have another Vick. They don't get good enough recruits to win it all. I don't think they'll ever make it that far again. For the record, Warrick wasn't anywhere near the same level as Vick. You'd have had to see it in person.

True Floridian you win the prize finally someone gets it. The 'New Canes era ' begins with a win on Saturday night. A new 10 year run bolstered by not only putting a recruiting fence around SFLA but all of Florida. And like I said Vegas must think Rosier is still hurt or no way would VT be favored in a game marked down for the ages City of Miami style.

Oh, and one more thing. Miami probably was LOOKING AHEAD to Saturday night's game against Va. Tech. Thus the close game and all that. dUh. So I wouldn't put too much credence into Miami's poor performance and narrow escape win. Ouch.

Maybe not win it all, but like FSU, they're one of those teams that beat us when we were down via probation...and have been a thorn in our side when we've had a chance to compete the ACCC (09',13', & 16').

And yes they haven't had a 2nd coming of Vick, but guys like Taylor & Thomas weren't anything to sneeze at either.

Point is, they'll never be one of those teams that you can overlook like say a Duke, or GT somewhat...gotta come ready to play against them.

East Carolina- 2-6 - is also a very bad team which the Turkey's defeated.

I do kind of agree with you that we have not been tested by a good team, and the good one we were tested by we lost to. The same goes for you though. But looking at the margins of victory against your crap teams and our crap teams we are way ahead. UNC? Are you kidding me? Barely winning that? Even the "looking ahead" excuse does not hold water. And BTW Hokie Dokie Miami even in our down years owned ESPN. It is a fact that Miami gets ratings. We have more fans , we are sexier and 10 times more appealing with fans all over the world. The U brand is still one of the most recognized. You will never hold a candle to any of that.
And I think you have 6 or 7 kids from Florida. None are elite and most of them wanted to play for Miami. Nice fundamentally sound but no Ammon Richards or Jeff Thomas. Or next year when we get the #2 RB Lorenzo Lingard or #2 TE Brevin Jordan etc etc. And the College football world might get a good glimpse of future 4 Star athlete from the state of Georgia DJ Dallas.
