As great as he was he’s probably the 5th best DT in Miami history.

1A Warren Sapp
1B Jerome Brown
3 Cortez Kennedy
4 Russell Maryland
5 Vince Wilfork

This is just my personal opinion you could flip flop a lot of these guys around on this list…

There is no flip flop in regards to 1-4....

So many great Dlinemen at UM. Everyone is going to have Sapp, Wilfork, Jerome Brown, etc on the list and deservedly so...but during the 1970s we had some good ones as well plying their trade on teams that weren't winning....players like Rubin Carter, Eddie Edwards, Don Latimer, Gary Dunn, Jim Burt and Don Smith...I know, different eras and scheme but can't discount them.

Regarding Wilfork, his hs film was the best I've seen in my life. Not only was he bigger than the other hs kids, he was so explosive. A man-child vs teenagers.

Regarding in-person, Lester Williams was another huge man-child. I was on the HML jv team when we played him and I remember thinking I was blessed not to have face that dude...lol.
In fairness though, I don't think he had the motor that Sapp, Maryland and Brown had in their prime. Leonard Taylor reminds me a little of the late Williams in this regard.

To me Sapp and Brown are always 1A and 1B. Sapp a 1st ballot HOF and Jerome was well on his way to doing the same.

You could argue over Cortez and Maryland over who was better in college. But I think Cortez was…

Wilfork was incredible but I don’t think he’s as good as any of the other 4 guys.

I never watched Wilfork live in HS but I’m sure you’re correct. Vernon was a bulldozer that paved the way for Torrie Cox and MNW that year.

If Cortez would've been at UM for 4yrs, and not 2....he'd be 1C...
