Video from practice

Just from the short video the planning, timing and tempo looked great.

Question for anyone who has seen: How do Golden's practice compare to coaches past, both good and bad?

Technique is actually taught by Golden and the staff. I think that is the MAJOR difference from the past coaches.

Didn't James play last season with turf toe?

Yeah, i don't see how this can be over looked by people. It's not athletes foot. It's turf toe. Guys in the NFL are usually pretty much ineffective if they play through it so you usually don't see them try to play thru it. They just sit out and let it heal. Mike James played through it and wasn't the same back he had been his first two years. Dude went from averaging nearly 6 yards a carry to not even hitting 4 last year.

I like the videos and the idea of more to come. They're doing a great job using social media as a way to interact with fans, as well as giving us some insight into the daily happenings and practices.

I just dont even bother fighting for Mike James about last year. This is a different year and he is a new man and ppl will see it when the games start. That dude was always being singled out as a guy doing work in the weight room and we will all see it pay off this year. Haters gonna hate that is all........

It has nothing to do with hating....it has to do with the fact we have enough of a sample size of ACTUAL GAME FOOTAGE to know exactly what type of back Mike James is at this point.

He's an average back. Doesn't run anywhere near as violent between the tackles as someone with his frame should. He doesn't have great speed or quickness and his vision is probably average at best. Go back and watch the games over the last 2 years and I challenge anyone here to convince me Mike James didn't leave a lot of yards out there.

On a normal, good Canes team...Mike James is a Q Hill type role player. A jack of all trades hybrid fullback with pretty good hands. He's not anywhere near explosive enough to be an every down runner.

You are what the film says you are, especially after 2+ years. Running back especially of all positions is the one place where a guy who has talent usually shows out early.

Clements is the guy to watch here, he showed nice vision between the tackles and rarely went down on first contact. He keeps his feet moving and seems to be one of those backs with a knack for getting those 1-2 extra yards after contact. World of difference between consistently being in 2nd down and 4 or 5 as opposed to 2nd down and 7 or 8.

I also think Duke is going to get more carries than most on this site think.

Mike James averaged 5.7 ypc in 2010.

Duke is plenty big enough to get 10 carries per game and catch a couple balls too.

On 70 carries...and if i remember correctly that averaged is skewed by a couple of 30 yard runs he had late in the year in garbage time.

The very next year he got 72 carries and averaged 3.8. I don't think I need to tell anyone here that 3.8 yards per carry in college isn't good for a major division 1 prospect.

I have no idea why people defend this guy so much...and I remember since day 1 he was overhyped on Grassy boards as well. It's been 3 years and I've seen nothing during that time that has changed my opinion on the guy.

He ******* played the majority of 2011 with turf toe. You dumb mother****ers writing that off like it's no big deal. Turf toe has ended NFL careers. Why can't you understand that?

Low man wins, finally, we might have team that plays with proper leverage and pad level across the board

I'm just talking about that particular drill. He runs like he means it.

Maybe James wants it more this season.

A back who always falls forward and never fumbles is good in my book.

Tyriq McCord looks small. He's narrow in the hips, which means he's probably naturally fast but not the guy to hold the edge or work back inside on running downs.

To me, he seems more like a pass rush specialist at this point and we'll probably see him on 3rd downs if he plays this year. Just a stab at a guess.

Hoilett looks more like an all-around end, he has more the frame for it. He puts that TE on his ***.

Cain looks solid but I like Hoilett better just based on those two seconds of tape.

Ricardo Williams looks strong back there, working on Ben Jones who is a big boy. I like seeing that progress from Ricardo Williams.

O'Donnel needs to hit the squat rack, pack on some muscle. Flowers gets the better of him there.

Chick gets owned by Malcom Bunch on that drill. I love the way he gets down in the stance and attacks that drill though, that kid has a great attitude.

Hunter Wells looks good in the pass protect drill. I don't get all the negativity.

Junior Alexis looks strong as an ox.

Jared Wheeler....not a big fan. Just doesn't look good to me.

Duke's stiff arm looks very good.

Mike James runs strong. Stronger than Clements.

Then why was Clemets our short yardage back? SOrry dude Clements runs much tougher then Mike james and he falls foward Mike james doesnt and his *** fumbles

just go ahead and admit you're wrong about james and clements rather than trying to backtrack
