Jimmy really wanted Aikman. I suspect he would have given Aikman favortism had he enrolled. The better question is would the U have beaten Notre Dame in 88 with Aikman at the helm.
 
Aikman is the best NFL broadcaster analyst imo. Very genuine guy who calls it like it is.

Would Aikman have started over Walsh in 87-88? Hmmm. Good hypothetical.

Jimmy also recruited Jeff George, out of high school and when George transferred out of Purdue. George committed to The U but backed out when JJ would not guarantee him the starting job. At least according to George’s Wikipedia page FWIW. I don’t think George’s personality would have survived the Miami lockerroom.
