Venerables

He's in the best collegiate DC on the planet. Period.

The fact Clemson has been able to keep him this long is also a testament to the culture and type of program they have up there.

Big deal. They're stacked 3 deep with replacements.
EXACTLY. ITS EASY WHEN YOURE THE MOST TALENTED TEAM ON THE FIELD. YOUVE RECRUITED AT A CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL FOR A DECADE. YOU HAVE NO ONE COMING IN SOUTH CAROLINA TO COMPETE WITH AS FAR AS RECRUITING. WHILE THE U HAS TO DEAL WITH FSU, THE REST OF THE ACC, UF, THE REST OF THE SEC, THE B10 AND OU. WE CAN HOLD OF FSU, UF AND THE REST OF THE ACC. YET WERE HANDCUFFED BECAUSE WE CANT GET IN THE “GAME OF RECRUITING”. LIKE THE BLUEBLOODS OF CFB. THE SFLA COMMUNITY NOT ALL OF THEM, BUT MOST. HAVE BEEN FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER FOR QUITE SOMETIME. COACHING IS OVERRATED AT THIS LEVEL. EVERY COACH, COORDINATOR AND TV ANALYSTS. HAVE SAID IT FOR EONS. IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL ITS ABOUT JIMMY’S AND JOE’S NOT X’S AND O’s. EVERY COACH THAT HAS WON IN CFB HAS X’S AND O’S, BUT LOOK AT THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP YEARS ROSTER. ITS LITTERED WITH NFL TALENT AND DEPTH. CLEARLY WE’RE LACKING THAT TO COMPETE AT THE MIAMI LEVEL STANDARD. I LOVE OUR GUYS BECAUSE THEYRE CANES, BUT WE NEED SOME MORE GUYS.

That was not a defensive masterpiece. Our offense is simple. Everybody knows it. If it's covered by good athletes . . . we're done . . . Maybe a WR like Ammon Richards could have saved us, but I doubt it . . . Our talent is too thin; too many good players going to other schools . . .

Doubt it. I believe Venerables makes around $2 mil per year which is ridiculous for a coordinator.

The amount he gets paid compared to his responsibility is pretty favorable. Being the HC comes with a crap ton more of responsibility, and the payoff and difference won't be as much.

If I were him, I'd stay as a D-coordinator.
2.4 mill.

NO disrespect to Venables, but that wasn't a masterpiece last night. I saw Joe Brady eat this guys lunch. Even though Clemson blew out Alabama two years ago, Bama still average close to 7 yards per play. This says more about us, than them. When all you are running is inside zone, and zone read, you're not going to be very successful. I didn't expect to win this game because King isn't an NFL quarterback, so I didn't think he could throw the ball well enough from the pocket, but anyone praises Venables for this gameplan need to watch more college football.

Venables has been coaching in National Championship games while Lashlee was at remote outposts like UCONN and SMU. Lashlee is not the second coming of Bill Walsh.

He did what any good DC would do. Make our WR'S beat him and apply pressure. Unfortunately we played right into that like we believed or WR's were going to win vs man coverage.
