I haven't been following the other teams in the ACC offseason. Dafaq happened to VA Tech? Through Virginia and Wake Forest on there as well while we're at it. All three teams are generally decent teams.

Depends on how you define “decent.”

All 3 teams are not usually decent. One, maybe two will be but all three at once is usually not the case.

I would say 7-5 or 8-4 is pretty decent for those schools. Losing to James Madison, Purdue, Rutgers (currently) and almost losing to Old Dominion isn't what I would normally expect from these schools.

VT has been dead for a while.

The thread title "VaTech?" says it all
It’s a wrap for them. They rode Beamer Ball for a long time, but they haven’t done that for years. They’re almost totally *** out recruiting because there’s a ton of better options close by for recruits. Blacksburg is 1000 miles from nowhere and not a place anyone wants to be.

They have never been great, just rode Beamer Ball and Captain broken plays dog fight. They are going back to where they belong. A local, unknown average team. Now they do not play Miami, who will even watch….

As my son said the last time we torched them…EXIT SANDMAN 😎

Brent Pry is a Defensive guy with an extreme Bro-style Offense, VA Tech is finished as a program as long as he’s there.

He’s like a poor man’s Narduzzi

A guy that knows the game well told me VT was in trouble when Beamer left, he was a great evaluator and VT was a brutal place to recruit kids to.
He also said the Vick effect propped the program up for years after he left was the only reason they has some success.

Combination of:

1. Recruiting services and camps and 7 on 7 exposing VA talent to the rest of the country.

2. Fell behind in spending.

3. Blacksburg being so isolated that you’re not the “the team” in a state that’s mostly a pro-sports team state anyway.

4. The 757 drying up and the DMV becoming the talent hub.

5. Beamer stuck around too long and then they waited too long to fire Fuente. So the program got stale for too long, and then that continued under Fuente. Which dug too big of a whole for Pry.

All of that is just coming together to create and building on itself to create a tough spot.

It’s a shame these turkeys aren’t on our schedule this year, we’d hang a fifty burger on em..dead program
