VaTech to build on Campus Airport to Aid in Recruiting

The Boca airport can actually handle regional jets. VT's airport is 5500' in the mountains. Zero chance a football team is flying into it once done. Now a basketball team... maybe. I doubt they can get it longer than 6500', but at 6500', they likely can land a jet large enough for most sports teams and staff.
They could just use these.

I don’t do ****ing contests, so I’m not going to list off my FAU and Boca connections. It’s not relevant.

Further, it’s unnecessary because you mistakenly assumed I was contradicting you in my first post, whereas I was simply adding information to your argument that FAU’s airport isn’t helping their recruiting initiatives. The thread here is about Virginia Tech expanding their long-existing airport. You asserted that there is a distinction between the two because FAU’s airport access doesn’t help their recruiting initiatives. I added to your post that FAU’s/Boca Executive has also existed for a long time. Others then added the details of how it is further developed than VT’s.

You want to know what we’re talking about?

We’re talking about the same thing.
NEVER WAS A ****ING CONTEST CAUSE QUITE FRANKLY I DONT GIVE A F*CK ABOUT BOCA. LOL

Your post was not mistaken you stated in reference to my post that there aiprort has been around for long and is NOT on fau's campus.

I simply just pointed back out that it is under 2 miles from where fau plays football and u can pee from the fau football to the runway there. There isnt anything in your post referencing fau's recruiting endeavors whether good or bad. If that was your point then we were on the same page.

but from looking at your post....looks like you were trying to enlighten me that the airport isnt on fau campus and it has been their long before my
alma mater had a football team there which would be expected since fau first team was in 2001.

I usually dont do this type of back n forth but im feeling kinda Mario A gap duo run this week...and im just gonna....

Allow me to try to settle things between two excellent posters.

From the very beginning, it has been a misnomer to say that an airport is "on campus" at a major land grant university. That would almost never be allowed. Yes, there is VERY close proximity, so much so that it could SEEM like the airport is "on campus". But it's just a small distinction.

The point is relatively simple. Some of the VaTech folks are going to try to trumpet this as some sort of "advantage" that they have gained, though there are many college campuses that have proximity to regional (and larger) airports already.

Let's not fight among ourselves, let's just mock VaTech.

The whole thing about this thread, is OP thinking that VA tech is going to be some kind of recruiting threat? When the school itself has never been that much of a recruiting threat to us, and neither has James Franklin. Why is putting both of those together going to be some big threat to us?

Franklin will improve the fortunes of Virginia Tech, and they’ll become a more worthy regular season opponent, but I’m not shaking in my boots about recruiting. That’s just silly. And the whole airport thing on campus, give me a ******* break, it’s still in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Yes, my apologies, been doing other stuff and didn't see the most recent posts. Also, I am sure that I was not articulating myself well last night. It was late and I wasn't feeling well, so I am sorry and that is on me.

And it's always Cane love from me on here.

Probably a misnomer to call me an excellent poster too, but always appreciate your kindness. :)

For our AcC CG odds it's best if SMU loses. But if we were to assume that we lose the ACC tie breaker regardless and miss the ACCCG, then we want SMU to win out tbh. If they beat Louisville, Cal, and then win ACCCG against like GTech or UVA, it really strengthens our At Large bid *IF* we kill VTech and Pitt along the way.

I think odds of us getting in ACCCG are probably worse than us just getting an At Large bid, so at this point I'm just hoping Pitt beats GTech, GTech beats UGA, then SMU wins out and beats UVA in ACCCG. Then that means we will end season with a top15 win against Pitt, AND 1 of our 2 losses will be against a solidified top25 team and CFP team. Also I'd like USF to somehow win the American (and this make the CFP). That all happens and I think we jump BYU/UTah/ND/Bama... And even an Oregon team that loses or USC that wins...
This is a really good point

just pay whatever we have to get out of this conference with our GOR and go independent.

being in the ACC is worse than going indy at this point.

No more GOR.

All of that old "financial penalty" stuff from the GOR has been rolled into the "regular" exit fee now.

Any competent coach will be a problem for Miami at VT, UNC, Louisville, FSU, Clemson…

Frank Beamer is the quintessential example.
Lol @Alex_Dynamix , you’re a good dude on here and every time I feel like you’re about to break free of the shackling chains of the Cult of St. CoRchibal they pull you back in. You can do this man. You can be free. I know it’s a debilitating condition but we are here for you and support you.

lol I’m sorry bro I just can’t see VT being that much of a problem for Miami in the long run no matter who our coach is, but hey I could be wrong n they could become perennial playoff contenders who knows …IMO Franklin should’ve waited for FSU opening, he would’ve absolutely been a problem for us there especially in recruiting.

Do you remember Frank Beamer and Bud Foster? Do you remember how they continuously beat us or gave us fits with years of recruiting classes ranked well behind us capitalizing on some really good talent down in Hampton Roads and elsewhere in my longtime onetime state of residency because they had competent coaching? The Corey Fullers, the other Fuller and Edmonds brothers, the Michael Vicks, DeAngelo Halls and Kam Chancellors ???

Yes I’m well aware of their past glory but the NIL era has made VT mostly irrelevant, teams can literally buy championships now, they won’t be able to compete at the highest levels unless they suddenly start investing WAY more into their football infrastructure, Maybe Franklin is their savior forces them to up the ante on financial support, we’ll see..

I don’t think we could buy a championship right now. Mongo would squander it on the coaching side.
