VaTech to build on Campus Airport to Aid in Recruiting

should take a page out of the art briles playbook and build extra buildings for hookers

should call it "hokies hooters"

Some of you need to understand this isn't just about them flying out of Blacksburg to recruit kids. This is more about other schools having to manage travel in/out of Blacksburg for all the other sports. Even Roanoke only has a small handful of commercial flights every day. If I were VT wanting to get into a P2 conference, I'd either purchase my own Jet to get teams to/from Dulles or Charlotte, OR I'd expand that runway to 6500 and work on getting 2-3 airlines serving it daily.

Tell me when Penn State had an offense that made anyone scared? I expect much the same at VT when he won’t get the same quality skill players.
This.

Franklin is a good coach...but va tech has a ceiling n mike vick aint walking thru that door.

va tech was good when they lock down the tide water area and dmv, sprinkled with fla talent helping out.

Franklin doesnt have fla pull...but he will be able to net the dmv area....an possibly get in the tidewater area. If eheis smart the portal will be his friend the next 3 years

Don't hate on my Fluffy Airlines (FA) Diamond Medallion status, I reup my 1st class mile high membership every chance I get.
An yes the Woodford reserve with ginger ale are flowing freely on FA.

****** FAU has an airport on campus. That aint helping sh*t

all this bs of promises of all this money va tech has or will spend...that they never have/had is like when poliicians tell you what they are gonna do.

At the end of the day you still would have to live in blacksburg va an in the nil era with options your not choosing to go live there unless your from the surrounding area and state or places similar to blacksburg.

James Franklin aint gonna land reuben bains or mali toney's and we dont recruit va or the dmv tough so he wont be a problem in recruiting for us.
Boca has always had the Executive Airport located there. It existed long before FAU even had a football team.

The real question is where did VaTech find this money tree to afford Franklin, the expensive staff, and CAPEX?
Per AI: VT funded the upgrade to its athletics programs and the hiring of James Franklin primarily through a comprehensive $229 million investment plan over four years.

The sources for this $229 million investment include:
  • Donations (Philanthropy): The plan aims to raise $120 million from boosters and new donors. A major, new donation in the range of $10-20 million was secured during the coaching search, with promises for more.
  • Institutional Support: The university is contributing through internal investments.
    • Student Fees: A part of the plan includes a mandatory student fee increase of $100 per year.
    • External Collectives: Independent NIL collectives, such as Triumph NIL and The Hokie Way, also allow fans to directly support student-athletes through subscriptions and charitable activities.

The bolded is why is aid the talks of all this money they have is b.s.

They have used some funds in some upgrades the last year to two years or so but they arent in the theme park of folks who really want to win championships...and triumph and the hokie way i doubt are nil collectives loaded with money.

3-4 years ago va tech had players sharing merch to work out in...lol And their players stayed in dorms with no air.

Cool. Then you know it's not ON campus.
forgot to mention....an fau alum here as well.
the airport road runs adjacent to fau practice field and tom oxley center lol

you could **** on the run way from fau...what are we talking about here?.

fau stadium and boca airport are both under 2 miles from each other the same as whatever airport va tech has on campus there.

The Boca airport can actually handle regional jets. VT's airport is 5500' in the mountains. Zero chance a football team is flying into it once done. Now a basketball team... maybe. I doubt they can get it longer than 6500', but at 6500', they likely can land a jet large enough for most sports teams and staff.

Why do they all have to be on the same plane? Take two flights

I don’t do ****ing contests, so I’m not going to list off my FAU and Boca connections. It’s not relevant.

Further, it’s unnecessary because you mistakenly assumed I was contradicting you in my first post, whereas I was simply adding information to your argument that FAU’s airport isn’t helping their recruiting initiatives. The thread here is about Virginia Tech expanding their long-existing airport. You asserted that there is a distinction between the two because FAU’s airport access doesn’t help their recruiting initiatives. I added to your post that FAU’s/Boca Executive has also existed for a long time. Others then added the details of how it is further developed than VT’s.

You want to know what we’re talking about?

We’re talking about the same thing.

Absolutely having Cafecito Airlines on campus would do wonders.

Can you imagine the boarding calls "Ven Aqui Papi nos vamos".

What’s incredible is that she isn’t cellulite-ridden with a drumstick that size. Like they might have airbrushed it but there’s no cottage cheese going on with all that.

Clemson can keep thier F'ing slide wholly crap James Franklin in his introduction video at the 1:19:00 mark said VaTech will be fasting tracking the building of an on campus airport to expedite staff yravel when recruiting. I am assuming it will be a small puddle jumper airport to connect with Renoake-Blacksburg Airport ( regional). This man is gonna be a problem for Miami, dammit but iron sharpens iron!

The real question is where did VaTech find this money tree to afford Franklin, the expensive staff, and CAPEX?

Check the 1:19:00 mark

What problem are we actually talking about here? This guy had every resource in the world at Penn State and was never able to get it done. He’s not gonna be able to recruit at Tech, like he did at Penn State. So what problem are we talking about here?
