Valentine Thread: Set to visit this weekend....maybe.

Question....Do you guys believe kids commit to coaches or schools? Or there's middle ground?

Interested to hear responses. I'll hold my opinion

I think most kids go somewhere because of the school not necessarily the coach unless the staff was absolutely doodoo... I realize these kids get attached to their primary recruiter, but IMO would stay somewhere as long as the new guy isn't a complete idiot.

I think you should pull this from this thread and start a new one just on this topic.

Why? It's a dumb question, IMO. There are going to be cases for both, obviously, which suggests a middle ground....as is the case for **** near any other issue someone could dream up.

Come on, Pete, don't hold back. Tell us what it is. Clearly, Al & Co. arrived after Genron handled Joyner and Therezie, so what was it? Possible that D'Onofrio called him on something?

Genron was the "handler" of Joyner and Therezie too???

That's the word.

This is the first I am hearing of this school's issues with Coach D (NOT related to scheme and the Dorito nonsense). Was this discussed before? Why is this not discussed in more detail?

I'm just going off what Genron has tweeted before but he claimed DNO told him he wasn't a good coach. I believe Genron's tweet was "Ain't no northerner gonna tell me I ain't good enough to coach" or something like that. And when asked who he was talking about he said "Miami DC"

If you believe this version, I got some beachfront property in Des Moines to sell you. Again, kudos to D'Onofrio for calling the guy out for what he is and has been - a leech prying on teenage boys. Just track the guy's record at previous high schools and with players. And what about his 7-on-7 days with the local franchise that continues to be regularly chronicled and with breath-taking acclaim - how and why did that end? Any idea, guys?

Have people also forgotten that Genron was bounced from SFE for "unethical conduct"??? LMFAO. DO you know how sleazy you have to be to get bounced from a shady volunteer sports league with no real rules or supervision??? But somehow, the amazing football POWERHOUSE that is Champagnat Catholic, who apparently has at least 1/4th of the entire High School on the football team, the team which doesnt even have a field or weight room, and yet is putting out as much amazing talent as all the top long standing football powerhouses in Florida, despite only having had a team for 3 years, and where a disproportionate number of players seem to be living with their coaches, keeps him on staff. EL OH EL.

Does ANYONE have any insight into this program? Im legitimately asking, because everything I have heard and read seems very odd to me.

I think a healthy discussion here will bog down the TV thread.

I agree with you and I also realize that it will likely lead to agenda driven posters to use the question to further that agenda --- which is better off in a different place than the TV thread.

I don't know what the truth is, but I would find it hard to believe that any one of our coaches would call out a local high school coach on his coaching ability. I could see a college coach putting a high school coach in his place if he were telling players not to listen to the college coach or to do something counter to what the college staff was teaching --- similar to a parent getting to involved.

Fair enough.

I could see them doing it if they felt the program was nothing but a meat market taking advantage of kids. As in "stay away from that place, its a dump and those guys are hustlers more than coaches".

Totally fine, totally normal. Nothing to see here.

And just for the record, even if we get Valentine, this place is shady and I don't trust it. Seems like the type of place that violates our parole, inevitably. Still want Valentine, but as soon as he transferred here major red flags jumped up. You don't associate yourself with a dude like Drummond if you are on the up and up. Period.
