Valentine Thread: Set to visit this weekend....maybe.

Complete and pervavsive contextual ignorance. You have no clue what you are talking about as it relates to this specific recruit. It's a buyout. All that's missing is the invoice stamped in purple and whatever color of urine they pair with it.

Any other D line recruit might be a different story. I don't have any knowledge on them.

WTF are you talking about?

I'm fully aware cash comes into play with recruits...but that's always been the case. My point is very simple...these Don Bailey Jr fools will EXCLUSIVELY blame missing out on top recruits on cash, street agents, and whatever the **** else they can make up. All in the name of not admitting Golden simply isn't getting the job done.

Well, even those are not mutually exclusive. It might be that some kid walks away from UM exclusively because of money, street agents, etc., and the staff still isn't getting the job done.

In that context, pointing to scheme and other issues to explain that kid's departure, in effect, would be excusing the shady stuff, as the kid would have come notwithstanding the scheme issues.

Bottom line--we don't know if it is one, the other or a combination. We're all guessing and no one's guess is better than any other at this stage.

And, I'm not defending the staff here.

Some people cant put aside their obsession with trashing the staff long enough to see the forest for the trees. I have no doubt that TV and probably many other kids were concerned about our struggles, but most other programs had struggles this year too. UGA went 8-5 this year, and amazingly managed to come to So Fla, and get "life long Canes fan", who we had recruited since the 8th grade, to commit to UGA, and refuse to talk to our coaches, or even take an OV. But people think its because of Richt's Jedi mind power, and that our staff apparently shows up to talk to kids wearing big red noses and floppy shoes. The act like the fact a kid has a notorious street agent as his "representative" pushing him to a notoriously dirty $EC program, and thats not going to have any impact.

you state this repeatedly, but its wrong. He was at Miami for the Wake game

Going to a game is NOT an official visit. He took ONE OV, and it was to UGA.

There is a lot of sad agenda on this board.

The one that picks the street agent over the school is a little more perplexing than the opposite, IMO.

haha, no kidding. The agenda is strong with these dudes.

LOL at taking the side of a street agent.

You know what's sad? Fans that take the side of a coach over a team

Who is doing that? Pretty sure if we had to choose between Golden and the Canes 100% would choose the Canes. Unfortunately genius, we aren't in that situation. We can choose to support the current team by not CONSTANTLY bashing the coaching staff, which some feel could have a negative impact on the current and future team. Ya dig?

My bad- guess he was on the sidelines at the Wake game but ignored the coaches the whole time. Where did I say it was an official visit?

At the end of the day, there is absolutely no proof this kid was paid.

He has legitimately been interested in LSU for quite some time. This wasn't a spur of the moment, "surprise" visit he took. They have recruited him aggressively for quite some time and he's been receptive to it.

As mentioned, he voiced concern over the defense following the FSU loss. We didn't do ourselves any favors by collapsing on defense throughout the rest of the year following that loss.

To make the assessment his impending loss is nothing more than a "pay for play" by LSU is a pathetic excuse.

When is there ever proof that a kid was paid? Does that mean that it never happens unless you read about proof?

This is absolutely hilarious considering you consider yourself a fan of UM football.

Remember that scathing article Charles Robinson wrote? LULZ.

Ok, not sure how that is hilarious. Guess you thought you "got me." So you think the only time players get paid is when you see proof, like the Charles Robinson article?

LOL, wut? NO one claimed the kid NEVER talked to the coaches. He's refused to talk to our coaches for months. That's a fact. The "life long Canes fan" we offered in the 8th grade. But that's not odd to you? LOL. Ok.

No, not at all. Not that naive.

However, Valentine's timeline, particularly when he started showing interest in LSU, his concern over Miami's defense, and when he decommited just don't coincide with a pay-for-play scenario in my mind, which is why I claimed using that excuse strictly as the reason for his impending loss is asinine.

I have no idea whether or not he was paid. But to say definitively that he was and that is the primary reason he bailed is irresponsible.

Ok thanks, was just curious about your views based on the initial comment. I think a lot of factors are involved with Valentine, one of which could be money.

I fully understand the fan unrest, criticisms, negativity.......to a POINT, but my god it is grating. I agree with some of it, some not, but this board just gets tough to read sometimes.

Thing is, I went through this with Coker and Shannon. I just hated the guys and did pretty early in their tenures. I virtually hated the hires from day 1 (and was proven correct). It was flat *** (for me) miserable to be a Canes fan. ****, I even despised Coker as OC.

I guess I just don't want to go down that road again. It didn't get me anywhere but miserable. I choose to have at least a sliver of hope he can turn it around. I still haven't forgiven Golden for the PSU debacle and his defense is atrocious.

I hope he can turn it around. If not, he'll be fired and on to the next coach. I am not a coach lover. I love the program and that alone.

if i hear that Miami gets "outbid" one more time

I sat there for a minute waiting on a screen shot of twitter or Facebook to pop up. Nice one.

Its obvious that TV's handlers, who also happen to be his coaches, have taken over the process. The handlers are likely getting paid very good $ to deliver TV.

TV very much wants to go to Miami; however, he is a 17 year old kid with no parental guidance. He is surrounded by a bunch of leeches. They have convinced him that our defensive scheme sucks and he will not be admitted. Hopefully we can find a way to get him on campus this weekend and convince the kid to stay home. Again, the handlers are likely being paid alot of $ to deliver the message to TV and keep him away from the Miami coaches.
