You didn't answer the question.
It’s not measured in increments of halves. It’s measured in the entire body of work. There’s been poor defensive play -scheme and technique - throughout games all season with the exception of us dominating FSU.

Now with that answered, here’s an idea for you to chew on:

Move Stroud to recruiting and bring in Kevin Patrick from FAU.

Replace Rumph with DVD and let him have a chance.

Replace Patke with Devin Bush, Sr.

Replace Baker with any of that guys @Liberty City El suggested like Marcus Freeman at Cincinnati or even T-Rob at USCe. **** at this point, I think Muschamp will be available but he has Saban Bama Analyst written all over home.

Banda can stay. He’s a dog on the trail.

You’re reaching new levels of Slurpery this season if you’re falling on the Baker sword.

@Go Canes!!

I have always said that Manny's defense only works well when it has a very good to elite Dline coach. Which it had at LaTech, Miss ST, and his first 3 years at Miami. At La Tech Blake Baker had Rick Petri so the defense generated pressure from the dline and Bakers blitzes worked due to added dline pressure.

Currently our dline gets pressure through effort not advanced technique or combination moves. Our linemen can't disengage if they don't beat opposing off the snap because they aren't utilizing proper hand fighting techniques. Exhibit A Jalen Phillips, 2 years under Stroud and Phillips has Turrible Techinique but plays 200 mph with incredible heart.

I've said the same thing for a long time. It's not a bend but don't break defense. It's a defense that counts on it's aggressiveness up front to create a favorable down and distance situation just about every drive, at which time their pressure causes incompletions, turnovers or a punt.

It works a vast majority of the time in most games. But without the pressure it doesn't.

You’ve gotta be kidding me if you think Baker and Rumph and/or even Patke should be here coRching on defense. And @Paranos I right about Stroud - I should’ve taken what he said with the authority it deserves on the big guys. They’re not developing in technique alike they did with Simpson. Or Kul. Here’s an idea for you to chew on:

Tangent:
How ironic would it be to hire Muschamp and beat the gator in 2024?

But Manny's defense generated pressure from the dline and played coverage behind it. Hence all the turnovers. But when the dline is neutralized the defense is revealed as bend but don't break unless you bring a double blitz.

Devin Bush hasn't coached a single snap at the college level. His coaching experience is at the high school level. I don't think DVD has ever been a coach and Patrick is a journeyman.

If those are your solutions I will stick with what we have.

PS. Our body of work defensively is a poor argument btw. We have given up 14 points or less defensively in four of our seven games.

Here is the breakdown of our points allowed:

UAB 7-----7
LVL 6----28
FSU 7----3
CSN 24---24
PIT 6----13**
UVA 7----7
NCS 24----10

**INT returned to the 1 yard line.

I don’t think that’s the only problem here when you see the way we are lining up pre-snap.
My point was, if your replace Baker, you’re or going to get to choose the other coaches you listed to replace Rumph Patke or Stroud.

Here is something I have preached for years as invaluable. I even suggested to UM staff to bring this guy in as a consultant for a few weeks in the off season last year.

Notice Jess Simpson emphasized Hand fighting and disengagement from the oline. It's not a coincidence his dline generated more pressure.

i have noticed the at our d-line engage like they are playing a 2 gap defense even though ours is a 1 gap scheme haha that’s not a good thing. Our backers do the same. Everyone looks to engage the blockers instead of actually beating them with moves to get to the ball. Just a bunch of bull rushing

He was at Michigan for a while. Package deal with his kid

VA Tech is just a mess right now. I saw this article referenced and it's pretty interesting. Gives a decent overview of their game vs. Liberty. It seems like Lashlee and King can put some numbers up on their defense; the bigger problem will be containing Hooker. Aside from Fuente's disastrous last time out and defensive call, seems like their OC was bad, too...

Don’t even start with that. Last year we were supposed to be the game that got Fuente fired and look what happened.

Yeah, sorry, I’m a little flustered right now between a meeting I’m about to start and the trauma to my psyche from my friend @Go Canes!! sacrificing himself like a Japanese General during WWII and falling on the Blake Baker sword

No I like Stroud and the jury is out for me on Patke. I don't care about Baker and Rumph, if they go they go.
The reality is that if we accept that Baker needs to go, then every position under him is at the will of his replacement. If that's not the case and Manny intervenes, we will not succeed. Too many cooks spoil the stew.

I couldn’t read it.

It was so poorly written, with so many run-on sentences, and hardly any punctuation, that it seemed like a stream-of-consciousness jumble written by a high-schooler. Just quit after a couple of paragraphs.

Granted, my attention span and patience is in short supply, but this was bad by any measure.

I’m still not sure what happened at the Liberty v VaTech game other than the Hokies lost. Haven’t seen any highlights, haven’t read about it, didn’t see the game.
Epic corch job in the last minute of the game. Worth watching just to see the the ***** shakers swoon as the winning fg splits the uprights.

I dont believe Muschamps style would vibe well with Manny's but I think his intensity would be good for the defense and he has recruited fairly well and produced some very good defenses in the past. I would be skeptical but encouraged by that sort of hire.
