USCe OT Josiah Thompson visiting

According to USCe fans, he was basically the tallest midget on a poor OL. That whole operation was ****, so whatever. He is a huge talented kid with a ton of experience. If they want to bring him in to compete, then sign him up.
Exactly!

Also, I am sure Mario and Mirabal will fight like **** to convince Bell to come back. If he doesn’t then open competition.

Like we’ve all said a million times before, offensive line is the least of our concerns with Mario and Mirabal.

This would be a great pickup. The tools are there and he already has experience starting in the SEC of all conferences but hasn’t shown enough to demand a starting spot. Will have to come in and compete. At worst he is a swing tackle, at best he starts at one of the tackle spots. Perfect pickup if we get him.

OL scouting is what these man excel at. This guy was a elite project out of high school. Maybe his strength is not there yet and his technique not refined. They will get him right if he comes. Also not sure why yall just talking about who will and wont start. You need like 8-10 OL who can play, do yall see how bodies drop in this expanded playoff era? U cannot go an entire season with just the designated starters. Its about players giving quality snaps.

Because we have a budget.

if he didnt rs as a 275 true freshman he aint transferring anywhere to rs.

He's 6'7 300 now and isnt 20 years old yet. We can put 10 pds for sure on him with good snc and this kid is going to look alot different.

LT ON MOST OF THIS FILM.

Good body composition; will be interesting to see what we do from a SnC standpoint. He needs work on his lower half.

And getting this dude is gonna destroy our budget?
If you pay a guy enough you expect them to play.

You asked why people were questioning who would start… well we aren’t paying a bunch of guys A LOT to sit the bench lol.
Like I said if Bell is staying it’d mean this dude or Cantwell would be expecting not to start. And I’d bet everything I got on Cantwell starting day 1.

Which is why I said if Bell returns this dude taking a ra makes a lot of sense. But you’re not paying a guy the same when expectations are a redshirt yr bs expecting to start. Different pay obviously…

And like I said, u need bodies, to play. Do u see us going through the season with just 5 players? We are surely losing at least 3 players on our OL, possibly 4. If they are bringing this guy in, it is to play.

Am a fan of this take. Understand that he struggled this year. He's got a ton of talent. We have great OL coaching.

We have been really fortunate the last couple of years injury-wise on the OL. Whether Bell stays or goes, would be nice to have another guy in the room who has started games.

Portal OT options aren't great. The top guy from last year World looked awful against IU, and Chaplin transferred again to FSU this cycle. Wasn't realistic to expect us to get a Bell/CiCi replacement who would be plug and play.

We'll see how things shake out with Bell and any transfers out of the room after the natty. If Bell goes pro we would have this guy, Samson, McCoy, and Cantwell + the other inexperienced guys in the room to figure out 4 spots on the OL. Maybe someone in the room can play C, or we will have to pick one up in the portal after next week.
