USC offers Kaaya

I think kiffen is the reason usc didn't offer. Seen on espn after he was fired and they said usc was going after kaaya and about 5 other guys now. I'm not saying dat boy gone flip but he did seem excited about that ucla offer. The person they about to go after is his moms and they gone tell her he will be close to home, she come see him play every game and all that ****. If hundley leave he might can start at ucla too.

why so many with inferiority complexes?.....so what that another major program offered. just means he has the goods and others are noticing. God forbid bama, LSU or UGA offers...we would surely lose him then

Brad Kaaya ‏@TrinidadBrad 24m I am committed to The University of Miami, but would just like to say thank you to the USC coaching staff for offering me a scholarship.

I think the more big time offers he gets, the more likely he sticks with THE U. Those offers just validate that our staff knows what the heck it is doing and is spot on faster than all the others. Every new offer makes Coley and Al look better. This kid is way smart enough to see that. We already have a franchise QB in last class so we did not offer out of desperation but rather seeing some who could compete with the 4* top 10 qb already in the fold. The more offers he gets now, the less the UCLA offer value. They become just another of the Johnnie come lately offers. We remain THE ONE.

In the end, he will do what's best for him and his family.
Not saying he won't stick with UM but that he won't stick just because it offered first.

Like mentioned earlier, it's stunning that UCLA and SC are only now offering. OK, they weren't the first to offer, but where were they this past summer when the kid was lighting it up?

You need to spread some rep around before giving it to TreOFive again.

Well said brother.

Well, to be honest, Kayaa was a 3 star type kid before the summer and most teams wait until some footage of their SR year before pulling the trigger. I'm sure USC was looking at many other kids before Kayaa.

The key issue here is that UCLA and USC dragged their feet in offering. God only knows what would have happened had they offered right around the time we did.

This is why I said I don't listen to Scout, ESPN, Rivals or 247 - I go by Golden and the staff's rankings.

are USC and UCLA paying more attention to stars then their own evaluations? for local kids they only have to drive across town and watch in person. plus he blew up at the the camps over the summer and they still waited until october 1 to offer. clearly he was plan C or D for these schools. what else could it be. they just evaluated him wrong or worse they refused to look at him.

USC doesnt worry me at all. UCLA is the only concern here

Why UCLA? If he grew up an SC fan and was crushed emotionally when he overheard SC coaches dismiss him, why would that make UCLA a threat?
It's like loving Auburn your whole life, but then pledging allegiance to Bama.

He basically said "I appreciate the attention but I'm a Cane?

Not worried in the slightest.

There's a light year of time between now and NLOI day. Im sure we'll see plenty of commitment wavering between now and then. Whether we lose Kaaya or not I can say this for sure: For the first time in a long time Im seeing a UM coaching staff that is out-working their competitors. For us to offer and get a commitment from a kid before his two local elite skools got on him speaks volumes to me. That in and of itself is extremely motivational IMO.

From the LA area here, let me break this down so you understand the differences here between UCLA and USC in this recruitment:

UCLA held off on offering Kaaya early because they had one of those "silent verbals" from Kyle Allen, possibly the #1 QB in the class, depending on who you listen to. Put their eggs in that basket. Allen changed his mind and committed to Texas A&M...long story, but basically, an "advisor" who sort of maneuvered him there. Meanwhile, RS Freshman QB TJ Milweard realized he was 3rd, maybe even 4th on the depth chart and transferred out just before the season started. Suddenly, UCLA is holding 2 QBs less than they thought they had--good reason to open it up and consider kids you might have not offered previously. Also, may make sense for the recruit--knowing the competition has thinned out. UCLA has Brett Hundley, the starter, a third year Soph who some are projecting as one of the top two QBs in THIS YEAR's NFL draft should he come out early (behind only Bridgewater), Asianti Woulard...Freshman...last recruiting year's #1 Dual Purpose QB according to ESPN.com and the MVP of the Super 11 QB Camp, and Jerry Neuheisel, RS FR, son of former coach...After that, it's just walk-ons...IF Kaaya would switch to UCLA, he could immediately be in the Top 3 on the depth chart...

USC is really an interesting read...I think they offered Kaaya now because Ed Orgeron was named interim head coach...Look at his history with Ole Miss--his MO is to offer EVERYONE...Ogre led the nation in offers at Ole Miss...offered just about everyone on the Top 100 lists whether they were considering Ole Miss or not...And Orgeron is about as far from even having a job three months from now as any interim coach in the history of football...You don't know who the coaches will be, don't know what offense they'll be running...nothing...If you are a recruit, you really can't take this offer too seriously. SC currently has the following at QB: Cody Kessler, RS Soph starter, Max Wittek, RS Soph--almost beat Kessler out of the job, started briefly last season when Barkley went down, Max Browne, Freshman, last season's #1 ranked pro-style QB...then they have just assorted walk-ons. Kaaya shows up there, he's likely #4 on the depth chart...behind two guys with starting experience...

But, beyond that, as I've said, I don't think SC is a viable threat...

Kaaya's going to Miami...unless he changes his mind and decides to stay home and play for UCLA...Anyone else is simply not a player in this game...UCLA is a viable threat for multiple reasons, including some personal connections...No one else is...He's NOT just reopening his recruitment...
