Fundamental difference between SC and Miami. 1) Even when they are mediocre, they recruit better than we do and 2) Clay Helton, for all his flaws crapped on Manny Diaz as a HC. There also isn't nearly the same amount of adjustment needed, because SC had already become an Air Raid offense under Helton, adding Lincoln Riley didn't mean a fundamental shift in philosophy. I think Lincoln was the perfect hire for SC, because they had the money to overpay for the best coach not named Nick Saban out there. That's what Alabama did when they hired Saban, they saw a high end guy and went all in.

Let's also not pretend that Riley didn't upgrade at key positions, with some huge portal additions. Addison and Williams alone would lead to a better product, that's not including Dye. Riley is a **** good coach, but we also need to pump the brakes. SC should be **** good, especially in the Pac 12, where there's little if any competition. Even at their worst, SC was more talented than everyone in the conference and it wasn't particularly close. I expect SC to win the Pac, maybe make the playoff and the issues that reared their head in Norman for Lincoln to make a return. It's tough to win titles when you don't have any interest in playing defense.

I didn’t know they brought in 26 transfers lol thats insane but it’s paying off. Especially Caleb, Mario and Addison.

There defense is suspect and i need to see Caleb vs a good defense before i say they’re serious.
 
Their going to run through that pac 12 schedule like a hit knife through butter… better not run into a half decent SEC team in a bowl game
 
Them and UCLA are about to lap us. Riley will raid the Portal for top talent and keep the top talent in SoCal home. The Bruins will eat the scraps.

Jealous of USC fans.. coliseum was rocking.. Must be nice watching an exciting brand of football and knowing your HC will guarantee that..

They're going to get exposed in the playoffs. They have no defense but USC is a top 10 program and you gotta give Riley credit to do that in year 1

I'm super jealous of USC. At least with Riley you know he can coach offenses. Our guy, he can't coach either side

You weren’t there for the FSU game.. the team was playing like dog doo doo yet the place was nice and full… unfortunately the team ran the fans out earlyb
 
UGA would mop them in semifinal, but they’d likely mop everyone lol. A playoff appearance is huge though, BUT I don’t think they are out of the woods yet. Utah already beat them once, that won’t be a lay up. Wittingham will have his boys ready as usual.

IDK, Lincoln's OU team gave UGA problems before they choked the game away, and this USC team has more talent. Certainly would be an interesting contrast of cultural styles if they do meet, like they say in boxing, styles make fights.

This SC team def has more talent but that Oklahoma team was much better up front on O than USC is currently and UGA wasn’t what they are now up front defensively. I think UGA would wear them tf out up front. I guess we’ll see.

On paper UGA rolls everybody.
 
I guess it depends on how one defines "back." They have had a very good season behind a fantastic offensive coach, and a QB playing at a high level. I think they're on a great trajectory. But in my opinion, "back" means sustained excellence year after year. So, too early to tell.
