Even if FSU could afford Him Meyer doesn't take that job. From BG to OSU, Urban only takes over underachieving, but loaded programs, and takes them to the top. He's never, ever shown an ability to build a program from scratch, you don't have to look any further than His failed Jags tenure.
Ummmm say what?? Lol.
Bro, not sure if ur a Jag fan & just feeling salty right now, but this is absolutely untrue. Lol.
From 1995-2000, BG went 24-40, w/ winning no more than 5 games in a single season during that period. Urb immediately goes 17-6 from 2001-02.
He goes to Utah: From 1998-2002, The Utes went 33-24 (5-6 yr before he takes over). Urb immediately goes 22-2 from 2003-04, winning back to back 10+ games in school history.
He goes to UF: From 1999-2004, UF went 52-24 (7-5 yr before he takes over). Urb wins 9 games yr 1, and Nat’l title by year 2, going 65-15
OSU was a sleeping giant that got hit w/ sanctions before he took over, but outside of Fickell’s short 1 yr interim gig, Jim T has OSU humming, hiring Urban just put on one new tire on an already established machine, but at those previous 3 spots, u’re out ur mind if u don’t think he built up those programs.
Don’t let less than a yr coaching at the NFL level confuse u on him as a coach. He can coach, but his methods for coaching r not going to work w/ a locker room full of guys making more $ than him, & are already established. Ppl thought Saban was washed b/c of what happened in Miami; guys like Saban & Meyer can’t differentiate between the NFL & CFB games, but that means chit to their acumen.
It’s rare u’ll find a Harbaugh, Carroll, or the late great Bill Walsh. Often u’ll find NFL coaches flame out at the CFB level or CFB coaches flame out at the NFL level b/c it’s different games & personalities, but let’s not fool ourselves into thinking Urb ain’t one of the best CFB coaches at all time. His NFL stench should not be the flavor of the day.
