Great write-up. I wonder if we are planning to use Taylor more as that to directly attack the center post-snap and prevent interior double-teams.

Patriots have done that with Barmore against the Bills on Sunday and it was a massacre up front at times.

Would you say he played better and with more confidence as the game went on, especially in 4Q and OT?

He did throw 2 ducks (at least) that should/could have been pick 6 amd had a couple of balls batted down at LoS early on.

Nerves? Just getting adjusted to first teams?

The results of the game can skew how we see a player’s performance. If Shipley doesn’t fumble at the goal line or George doesn’t recover Brashard’s fumble in the end zone, nobody would have been happy with the quarterback play.

He absolutely played his best quarter in the 4th. The 3rd down crosser to Young was a bullet and a big boy throw.

He's kinda what I expected Mallory to be. Obviously Mallory got to the NFL, so he didn't fail here, but he never lived up to my expectations.
 
On the Arroyo collision - it looked like Lee snapped the ball too early (or he snapped it on time and the FR QB hadn't motioned his TE quickly enough) 'cos Emory wasn't even looking for the ball before it hit him in the chest.

100%! If we walked away from that GT game with a dub, I know I would’ve said “we got lucky, but hey at least we won” lol
 
as OP said... GET B.SMITH the ball MOREEEEE... especially with the banged up backs the next two games.... if there's a hole.. his burst gets him 20yards deep before they chase him....

ohhh and some CJ burn...
 
If you watch the replay of the Smith TD run you will see the guy that tackles SMith is initially in coverage with George and has no idea Smith has broke lose. Once George changes his angle back to the center of the field the defender turns and starts pursuing. I know George is taught to keep going the entire play but in this case he actually brings the defender back into the play and almost cost us a TD. Thankfully George didn't break of his pursuit of the play.
 
George's play on that fumble was possibly the smartest hustle play I've ever seen a Miami player make. Almost looked like he knew a fumble was coming the whole way and he'd better be in position to grab it.

I noticed the same thing watching the game. He was initially sitting on the floor but as he stood up, he noticed the loose ball and grabbed it. He definitely wasn't down by contact but it worked out for the better because he likely would have been tackled inside the 10 instead of getting the touchback.

That's why I'm still astonished that there are fans clamoring for miami to stick with williams because they beat Clemson. There are a lot of reasons that Miami beat Clemson and while emory rallied them late I wouldn't say it was because of anything he did exceptionally well. I also still fully believe with Van Dyke, Miami destroys this Clemson team. Emory will get his shot but I hope it's next season and hope he isn't needed again this year.

I don’t really think anyone reasonable is doing that. Bit of swinging at ghosts on the board. I guess it’s a classic message board approach to attack the extremes, but anyone can see the difference between Williams and TVD.

While I still personally would have preferred more [protected, 1 on 1] vertical attempts for Williams earlier in the game, I’m not talking about calling the type of game I want them to call for TVD. ****, I want them to slightly alter/optimize formations and personnel groupings for TVD, too.

But, these are nuances and an overwhelming amount of message board posters seem to prefer the ‘hot take’ route. Also, entirely too many narrative-protecting posts. But, to each their own.

Pretty ridiculous there. That and the taunting throughout the end zone against Horton.

But Mario can show that film and let the guys know “Who got the last laugh fellas”. Hard to show restraint but I genuinely think our guys were pouring every ounce of energy into beating Clemson…they probably didn’t even notice the stupid stuff Clemson was trying to bait them into….laser focused!
