Update on Shelton Henderson

Nah he's not close to them as an athlete imo. Even in his highschool highlights he's not trying to tear down the rim, he's not as explosive as them but it seems like his main plus is his strength and length for his size.
Those two legit look like different level athletes than everyone on courts full of NBA athletes. It’s insane.

I think a shorter version of Jalen Johnson would be an ideal outcome. Johnson left early from Duke and a lot of development happened in the NBA, but Henderson has the two way upside and body to be that guy. Depending on his shooting could stay for 2 years.
Really hope Atlanta gets rid of Young and fully hands the keys to Johnson next year. That dude is so good, him going down combined with Young’s playstyle just made them a total non-watch for me.

I think we can all agree that over the years recruiting at Duke, Kentucky and Texas is/was a lot easier to do than at about 99% of the country. Don't think I've seen anyone on her saying Jai was a non-factor at Duke, but I assure you it ain't hard to recruit basketball players there. No matter who it is, when they call, people listen. Same can't be said for a vast majority of the other programs.
I agree Dukes bball legacy is a major pull for elite kids no doubt.. I was jus jabbing at the ppl who downplayed his recruiting by saying me & you could land recruits to Duke n they wouldn’t leave cause of a coach, hearing this news is ironic in that sense lol

I’m talking about how they cut to the basket off the ball

I’m talkin about the ppl who essentially said that me & you could recruit Kids to Duke as if Lucas wasn’t really a good recruiter & Dukes logo just recruits itself..but here we are getting news that this Elite kid decommits from them after Lucas (who was said to to have played a big role in getting him there) leaves and that Miami is in it as far as recruiting him now 🤔..i guess Dukes logo is getting out recruited on this one right now 🤷🏾‍♂️.
Well i know Duke is getting players back and trying to get ppl out the portal n both sides came to an agreement n Duke let him go …. But jai is good at his job for sure

Oh yeah that’s a good one Jalen is a dawg

The logo does a lot of heavy lifting. But when you get past the opening stages and you’re recruiting against UNC, Kansas, etc. you need to close. UNC is a perfect example. They lack those type of recruiters. Obviously they’ll sign T10-15 classes every year. But they don’t compare next to some other blue bloods. They’ve got what, 3 titles the last 20 years, 6 or 7 Final Fours, a bunch of title appearances. They should just get who they want. Yet they don’t.

Not saying you’re wrong. Lucas ain’t gonna start pulling 3-5 five stars a class here. Not immediately at least. But I’d expect one, maybe two a class. He’s a good enough recruiter he should land the guys the blue bloods aren’t going balls to the wall over.

So what I’m gathering is we are going to need to have spare rims and backboards. We aren’t going to be able to shoot

Granted, there's NiL. But this seems like a good first test of Lucas.

If he can't bring the kid he recruited to Duke here then that's a loss in my book

If we can't or won't pony up what these other teams will, or close to it, that's one thing. Otherwise, no sugarcoating what would be an embarrassing loss for Lucas.

This is what happens when certain entities try to oversell a coach in order to defuse criticism from others that he may not be the best option for a job he has 0 experience for. You can name call all you want to people who disagree with you but anyone who thinks lucas will recruit rosters here like he could at duke or texas or any other blud blood is in for a rude awakening. Speaking of texas, weird they hired a proven head coach this cycle instead of taking the best assistant coach in the sport with all these great contacts and pedigree. Same with NC state. Weird.

**** buddy. Stfu.
