*UPDATE: Flips to UNC *DB Kenton Dopson III commits to Miami

Does anyone see him sticking with UNC with the season they are about to have? Come on, now. The money wouldn't end up big enough to go someplace he didn't want to go anyway and then lose like that.
Of course, this kid is so good, I won't except him going anywhere else. Not with the program where it's at right now.

No...you don't have to pay him to that extent but he deserves something. That's FAIR...he's virtually a HS junior. But Miami almost lost Toney because they didn't want to give him anything as well. How the school I love doesn't want to compensate anything me in a paying climate? Nobody is saying he gotta get paid 2nd team money but you have to be fair with these kids across the board
I don't think anyone disagrees that these kids should be paid their value, but the reports this week was that UNC threw a boatload of money at him. I think that's where people here give pause.

Yes, pay the kid, but it has to be reasonable for both parties. I doubt Miami is deliberately low-balling the kid because when it comes to football NIL that hasn't been their M.O.

No, which is why it's not the end of the world if he flips there. The kid clearly is resetting his market price. If he's as good as @gogeta4 says -- and how many times has Gogeta been off on his assessment of elite talent? -- then he deserves to be paid accordingly.

We need to land this kid. But Miami shouldn't bid against itself. Wait until the last moment, and like in Harry Potter, "open at the close".

Despite being committed to the Hurricanes for five months, the Tar Heels first put an offer on the table for the talented corner on August 5th.

"I was excited simply because it's coach Belichick," Dopson said. "I normally talk with (assistant general manager) Lance Thompson and (general manager) Michael Lombardi. They love my size, speed and coverage ability. They view me as someone that can come in and compete for a job on day one."

The Florida product is really interested to find out more about UNC on his visit.

"I want to learn as much as I can to help me get a better understanding of the school and staff," Dopson said.

UNC doesn't appear to be the only team trying to get Dopson to flip from Miami.

"A lot of teams still inquire about visits. But I leave all of that up to my dad for the most part," he said.
