I know the Scooby Doo quote, I've used it as a reference my entire adult life. One of my fraternity brothers and I would try to one-up each other with movie and TV references. Good times...

If you are trying to justify shoe-horning political commentary and non-stop "woke" references into all of your posts based on "what if" rationale, that's up to you. I accurately pointed out that the old guard is not doing this for political reasons. I don't want to bore everyone to death with a lengthy discourse on UM history, the inner workings of a particular UM honor society, or a discussion on the South Florida business rivalries and jealousies of the past few decades. Those discussions are better saved for DMs and text messages, as I have been doing with numerous posters on the board who live in Florida and know these issues well.

It is easy to get distracted on these issues when we spend time on the wrong issues. Woke students. Jenn Strawley. Donna Shalala. None of those issues matter to the current crisis that Miami is navigating.

Our fanbase, and this board, have had a sizable impact on what Miami is currently doing to (belatedly) address Athletics generally and football specifically. LOTS of people read this board and take their talking points from the things that are discussed here. The very fact that multiple sports writers have addressed "Jenn Strawley" in their reports is just an indication that they read this board and mistakenly think she is some sort of player in the drama.

The real issue has always been the interactions of the President and the Board of Trustees, particularly since it is not clear when and how the BOT will offer another 5-year contract to the President. The work of Echevarria and Fernandez has been fascinating. The double and triple reverses of certain BOT members has been stunning, not to mention the LEAKING and the battle between the black pawn (Ferman) and the white pawn (Lake). In 35 years, I have never seen this level of insanity on the BOT, they are normally buttoned-down silent killers. I've been expecting a day (or month or year) of reckoning to come for the past 2 years since the BOT (again, belatedly) accepted Jose Mas into their ranks, but the last few months have been next-level sheeeeeeit.

So grab your popcorn and enjoy the show. I assure you, this is not about modern-era R vs. D politics or wokeness. It's about multi-millionaires and their wallets and their egos and their d!cks.

Ruiz and Lambert are going to be...interesting to watch. Will the UM BOT keep the (soon-to-be) richest man in Florida off the Board? Will there be residual anger towards Lambert because he pants-ed Beta Blake in the Miami Herald? I **** well know that the behavioral conservative CEO-types on the BOT are going to have major heartburn with an attorney that advertises on TV (I did a law review paper on lawyer advertising in Florida, it's a very emotional subject in the industry). I want to be in the front seat of this rollercoaster, because it's going to be a wild ride.

Enjoy the holidays, everyone, hopefully we will get some resolution soon.

You've provided great insight many times on this board. I have no doubt you're on-point here, as well. Your last paragraph (in bold) had me making popcorn and setting the 'series record' button for this show. lol.

I used to play basketball at a health club many moons ago with a group of lawyers. There was one guy who did a TV ad. The rest of them gave him crazy amounts of ****t about it; Teasing him for having his law library in the background, etc... I guess the concept of "Honor Among Thieves" does exist. :congratulatory:

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We saw that play out in Better Call Saul. Didn't know it really was a thing.

No problem, sir. I know I'm a smart-a$$ sometimes, and other times I probably come off like a regular-a$$, but if I (as a Political Science major) can try to steer this discussion away from politics, you know I'm coming from a good place.

Huge thing.

Most lawyers like to crap on any lawyer who advertises on TV/billboards, or with any sort of a gimmick.

A very well-known poster on this board had a battle with the FL Supreme Court (years ago) over his phone number/logo.

(12/2 Update)

- I think we will know where everything stands with the future leadership, both athletic director and head coach, by Monday and maybe Tuesday at the latest.

- Athletic director candidate Eddie Nunez, who is the AD at New Mexico, publicly pulled himself from consideration for Miami’s open position on Wednesday. I’m told the UM decision makers still feel very god about the way the search is shaping up. The decision makers do not want names of AD candidates to be public at this time.

- There are three AD candidates that are publicly known in former players Gino Torretta, Alonzo Highsmith, and Nunez. I’m not saying any one of those candidates won’t end up being the athletic director, but I remain skeptical of names that are bandied about publicly at this point because UM is using a search firm to fill the position and that will generally be a quiet process. My impression is that President Julio Frenk wants to lean heavily on the search firm for the AD hire.

- The marketplace for college football coaches has changed drastically over the last week with many big name coaches leaving destination schools for other programs. Even after these recent moves in college football, the sense from people familiar with Miami’s decision making process is that they are still willing to spend the money it takes to attract the type of coach that it takes to win at a high level and be competitive. Moving forward, Miami is committed to running the football program like a business and invest in it. Athletics is viewed as an integral part of the university moving forward.

- My sense from people on the Miami staff is that they are still not in the loop with where things stand for their future at UM. Everything is still day to day at this point with their approach and they are just focused on recruiting and doing their job.

- Again, there is a plan. It isn’t all being played out in the public, but the leaders that are driving this decision are being thoughtful about this process. Patience is required.

Yes please. All during today ( conference championship day). I want it talked about all through the day and night of each game. Good and bad (perception how Manny was treated). Give me ALL the publicity. ALL of college football needs to know that Miami is READY to sit at the grown folks table and dont mind being cutthroat if necessary!
