If Manny was killing it in recruiting, I wouldn't cry about this option. (wouldn't want it) But there is no legit reason to bring him back. The defense that has been under his control for 6 years is the problem.

LMFAO at Anderson. He gave his buddy Herm a job with a minimal search. Don't need that nonsense. Anderson can fundraise, but there are significantly better options out there.

Absolutely. I'm still not sure why certain writers (and posters) can't grasp the fact that this is not just "Julio has all the power" vs. "the BOT has all the power". They still share power.

Julio can say "I want this guy", but the BOT has to approve the hire and the contract. It's not complicated, and it's the way UM has done business for decades.

And with Julio's desire to get a new 5-year contract for himself, he is definitely not going to sacrifice his own future employment just to push through one particular AD candidate.

That's why David Lake (or anyone) who suggests that Julio is going to impose his will on the BOT...is just talking sheer insanity. Maybe Tad Foote could get away with that in Year 11. Or Donna. But not Month-to-Month Julio.
 
It's funny, I was just reading Furmans article where he says the pro Diaz contingent is pointing to the emergence of TVD and the young players as a reason to keep Diaz. The irony is that the only reason those players emerged was the less talented players ahead of them on the depth chart got injured. So by their own admission and logic , Diaz should keep his job because he got lucky so many starters got hurt and he was forced to play the backups.
