Update - Clarification from David Lake, 247 TODAY

So we’re leaving a person in charge of hiring an AD and possibly a football coach, who couldn’t even tell you the rules to any sport outside of soccer.

The idea that Manny could have a job here next year, is insane and itself a disqualifier. This whole thing doesn’t make any sense at all.
Well everyone else has fooked up in past searches smh

A complete **** show, my goodness. Like seriously, it's like those people are intentionally trying to sabotage their own school!

POSTING WITH DAVID LAKE'S PERMISSION;

This narrative of a ‘power struggle’ happening at Miami with the AD and potential head coaching search is disingenuous. Where is the power struggle? President Julio Frenk is in power and he and his advisors are making changes.

Miami does not have a AD…no power there. The board of trustees is toothless (the decision to part ways from Blake James was made without their input for a reason)…no power there either.

HERE IS THE NEWS: Frenk and his advisors will hire the AD, which is currently going through a search firm process. The AD and Frenk will then make a decision on Manny Diaz.

President Julio Frenk and his advisors are attacking the status quo and these aggressive changes are making people uncomfortable. Are you all satisfied with the status quo? These type of massive changes need to happen if Miami is going to move forward and have success. The problem is systemic.

Again, people in the Hecht building and on the BoT leaking out that Manny Diaz is on the cusp of returning is disingenuous. Interim AD Jenn Strawley is not a candidate for the AD position. That would be a status quo move and the people making this decision don’t want the status quo.

These narratives are damaging because they characterize Miami as a circus (which it isn’t), but this circus narrative is something that the status quo people want to put out there because it could potentially scare quality AD candidates and scare a potential quality coach. These narratives are a shining example of why a total culture reset is needed.

Don’t fall for it. It needs to stop.

Screenshot this and post it wherever.
In what way is Miami not a circus?

This narrative of a ‘power struggle’ happening at Miami with the AD and potential head coaching search is disingenuous. Where is the power struggle? President Julio Frenk is in power and he and his advisors are making changes.

WRONG.

Miami does not have a AD…no power there. The board of trustees is toothless (the decision to part ways from Blake James was made without their input for a reason)…no power there either.

WRONG.

President Julio Frenk and his advisors are attacking the status quo and these aggressive changes are making people uncomfortable. Are you all satisfied with the status quo? These type of massive changes need to happen if Miami is going to move forward and have success. The problem is systemic.

WHY WOULD IT BE A PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE IF THEY ARE TOOTHLESS? WHY WOULD THE "SYSTEMIC" PROBLEM BE AN ISSUE IF THE "SYSTEM" IS TOOTHLESS?

Again, people in the Hecht building and on the BoT leaking out that Manny Diaz is on the cusp of returning is disingenuous. Interim AD Jenn Strawley is not a candidate for the AD position. That would be a status quo move and the people making this decision don’t want the status quo.

SURE, EVERYONE IS DISINGENUOUS EXCEPT FOR DAVID LAKE AND JULIO FRENK. YET THIS INDICATES THAT THE BOT IS NOT AS TOOTHLESS AS CLAIMED TWO PARAGRAPHS EARLIER. THEIR ACTIONS ARE HAVING IMPACT.

These narratives are damaging because they characterize Miami as a circus (which it isn’t), but this circus narrative is something that the status quo people want to put out there because it could potentially scare quality AD candidates and scare a potential quality coach. These narratives are a shining example of why a total culture reset is needed.

AND YET ONE PARAGRAPH EARLIER, YOU WERE CLAIMING THAT HECHT PEOPLE AND BOT PEOPLE WERE LEAKING FALSE (AND, OF COURSE, DISINGENUOUS) STORIES, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE TOOTHLESS. SOUNDS LIKE A CIRCUS TO ME.

I googled David Lake and this is the image that came up:

If accurate, it seems that someone or something has finally pushed Frenk’s button. And he seems to be arrogant enough that when his button is pushed, he will make the decisions that he has power to make regardless of his advisors (BOT). Frankly, this is the type of arrogance you need in a leader because sometimes the leader has to stop receiving opinions and believe that he/she is the smartest person in the room and is the only person who should make the final decisions. Now let us keep our fingers crossed that Frenk has decided that sports are an important function of a D1 university AND that he believes in the Stanford, ND, Michigan model that a university can not be great in just _______ to be considered great.

I hope Frenk is a killer behind the scenes. He must be pretty ruthless to become a University president. That doesn’t happen by mistake.

ECHEVARRIA FOR UM PRESIDENT!

Let's get this trending...

Pretty plugged in. He's a UM grad and has been covering the program about 15 years now. Worked with him a bit when I was in school at UM and he's been one of the better recruiting insiders in the market. Has been doing the lord's work this year taking Manny to task.

Then try this out.

Ask David Lake "who needs to give Julio Frenk a new 5-year contract". Then we'll find out who is toothless.

Thank you!! And thank you Lake. I can't say it enough (even though I've tried), ignore what isn't confirmed, ignore what you don't know is real, ignore the tweets, message board rumors, second and 9th hand info. It just amazes me that people never seem to learn this lesson. Frenk and his team took control, fired Blake (BOOM), and now the next step is hiring a strong AD (they are literally telling us they fired Blake for not demanding more resources!), to which they have dedicated resources to do it right. This does NOT exclude anyone who anyone may want to be the guy. It just means we are being thorough. And of course there have been back channel conversations with potential AD's and coaches. No one is sitting on their hands. Everything is going as it should. Be happy. And patient if you can please.

Also, don't believe a word I say because you have no idea who I am or if I know a god **** thing.

Gullible is believing anything you read on the internet from a guy who steals info from actual insiders. The actual guys who know what's up have never once mentioned that **** info being tossed at the wall from last night.
I don't know who you are talking about that's stealing information. maybe you should call them out by name.

I 100% believe David Epstein is a problem and you're naive if you don't believe that.

Only thing about this process I’m not thrilled with up to this point is that it seems as though they waited to start the search process for a new AD until after the termination of Blake. They should have had a top 2-3 ready to go and just interview them and get someone on board right away.

This is not the case. But the efforts "pre-BOT-Civil-War" are different than the efforts "post-BOT-Civil-War".
