Up-tempo offense?

College football is my favorite sport. I watch it all day on Saturdays, so it’s disheartening to see all these fast-paced, dynamic offenses putting up points with their athletes. With the playmakers we have at WR and RB, you would think we could destroy teams with a similar philosophy. I know our QB might not be good enough to pilot such an offense, but hopefully one of the young guys can incentivize Richt into adopting this approach more often.

On the flip side, these up tempo Offense’s play no Defense. They ain’t winning **** either.

True in a lot of cases. But ****, man...we look like one of the slowest offenses in the country. Richt takes forever to get the play in, and Rosier takes 5 years to hike the ball.

Richt wants to go up tempo, but with Captain 3 and Out at the helm, it’s not the best idea.

All those up tempo teams are just a coincidence? Pfffft.

Come on man. You are a good poster. Look at what you typed up. How could a certain scheme on offense effect a teams defense? You can't use the tired excuse, because teams that run the triple option or run heavy teams like UGA last year all had less time of possession then the up tempo teams yet they still had great defenses.

No arguments here. I don’t mind uptempo for situations especially if you’re clicking. Going uptempo (or the alternative) for the sake of going uptempo is ineffective. Defense catches on. No extreme is good.

I look at the facts. The majority of all these “uptempo” teams play poorly on Defense. There is no doubt in my mind it plays a role.

OU, UCLA, USF, UNC, UCF, Arizona, Texas, Oregon, Oklahoma State, etc.(list goes on), all run uptempo and play terrible Defense. Not a coincidence.

Watch, in a year or two, FSU’s Defense will be mierda like all of Taggart’s D’s.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have read in a while. Do you know what is also a coincidence with those teams? They all have HCs who are historically bad at defense AND terrible DCs. It is clearly a coincidence. Have you thought that maybe it just happens to be rare that a HC would be an offensive guru and also a defensive guru. I agree that Taggarts D will be terrible. It already is, but it is not due to running an uptempo offense. You are jumping to conclusions based off of coincidences.
