Up and coming offensive coordinators

What I love about Yost is not only his FB Knowledge, but the way he interacts with his kids, both on the field and off...and before anyone (and on CIS ya know their *** lurks) asks that "But can he relate to inner city kids"?? BS...Yes....he most certainly can and has aplenty....dont let that Surfer Boy Look fool you....

I am a big Yost fan and I feel his background as an elementary school teacher would make him ideal for dealing with the juvenile personalities we have in the QB room currently. Not to mention he has instant creditability given his resume. But I have to acknowledge his suffer look would rub some south Florida the wrong way until he gets the offense producing 50pts per game.

On another note he is loyal to his current HC, because he through him a life line when he was out of coaching that also made him an OC not just a position coach. The other big issue is whom would be Yost's oline coach, because Butch Barry & Dan Enos are iattached at the hip.

The other major issue with Yost is he not coming to UM for anything less than what Enos was making an also with Manny on the hot seat that would have to be guaranteed money. He is making $600k at Texas Teach while practically sleep walking. Unless it's for a major payday why would he come deal with the stress of Miami?

Then there is the buyout money for both Enos and Barry that would be north of $4 million dollars combined. To then pay a Yost $1+MM guaranteed and a new quality OL Coach $600k guaranteed for 3 yrs. That's another $6 MM miami would be on the hook for to fix Manny's mistake. Oh an then Manny's potential buyout next year if tanks. That would be approaching FSU spending to get rid of Slick Willie.

Blake James is literally in a tight spot with gambling the farm with hiring Manny Diaz. As popular as it would be to fire Enos, that would be doubling down on Coach Diaz.

Oh I have no doubt Yost's offense could work in Miami, but I think we missed the window for hiring David Yost as OC. At Ttech he can collect $600K per year for the next 4 yrs practically stress free while raising his family in country college town. He has been rural settings with them for most of their lives. Coming to Miami would be jumping into the fire unnecessarily both from a quality of life and professional stand point.

But again I think David Yost at Miami would scare the **** out of college football. It would be like having a civilized Mike Leach.

What? Enos and Barry have a combined buyout of $4mm? If that was allowed to happen, either Manny or Blake, or both, should be pistol whipped.

How about an up and coming head coach?

I like Matt Campbell a lot. He's had 3 straight strong years at Iowa State, a traditional loser program. Almost any coach can have one strong year, but 3 straight strong years is something that needs to be taken seriously.
He just signed an extension. Doubt we would pay Manny’s buyout on top of ISU’s buyout

Enos reportedly makes $1.5 MM and has a 3 yr contract, which I am sure he held up Manny and UM'S administration for 80+% balance buyout. So I'm guesstimating it was guaranteed money at 100% to get him to leave Bama so abruptly. So that's $3MM to buyout Dan Enos's last 2 yrs.

As for barry, to get him to leave the NFL the money UM offered had to be good an most likely all guaranteed. So I am gonna guesstimate he is making $750k /yr on 3 yr guaranteed contract. So that's $1.5MM to buyout Barry's last 2 yrs.

Plus any experienced incoming OC will want $1+MM/yr and a guaranteed money with Manny on the hot seat Combined with UM having fired the previous OC after 1 bad year.

Since when are assistant coaches getting lavish guaranteed contracts and buyouts? The first I have heard of this was on this site recently.

I keep reading about buyouts for assistant coaches, when did this start?

That's always been the case with top tier assistants. Terms are merely what the market will bear. There are assistants making $2.5MM/yr with guaranteed contracts (Dave Aranda at LSU).

You guys love making lists of coordinators Miami will never hire.

We did this crap when Manny was hired-- who did we get? A QB coach who was currently not calling plays and an unremarkable track record when he did.

I tried to click on the link but it said I was in the European Union...lol. Anyway, I know Aranda has a huge contract but that's LSU and is very rare. The multiple year and buyout part is what I'm wondering about, that is news to me. If true, we are going to be further and further from ever being able to compete

**** UCF is paying Randy Shannon $1.3MM per year to be their DC.

Just like a good woman isn't cheap, neither are good coaches.

We don't have to get rid of Barry to get Yost. Barry ain't the problem Enos is.
