Until Coker, new coaches passed on success whereas Coker failed

It looks like we will have Mario for a long time YET if he had NFL aspirations ala our previous coaches he has restored the South Florida pipeline, improving facilities and has quality support from the admin. People forget that Lou Saban started the state of Miami and when Howard tok over the talent was forming up. Then Howard expanded what Lou gave him and then sequencially each coach passed on the dynastic talent we had become. I'm not usre Dennis had the same structure Jimmy gave him and we hit a bad spot until Butch The huge disaster was Coker. I know many here seem to hate Manny but Manny was bringing in decent talent. I find it ironic that many say Manny needed more experience but managing the Miami landscape is unique and even Mario has had a lengthy path to success. The prime falure was the GT game where with his experience should'nt of happened. I want Mario to be like Bobby Bowden...figurehead with great assisstant coaches. Win or lose Wednesday will not negate our progress although a win would be enormous for our future

The program was trending down under Dennis. Cane Mutiny details it.

1990: 10-2
1991: 12-0 (NC)
1992: 11-1 (lost NC)
1993: 9-3
1994: 10-2

The record doesn’t look like any real downfall in the surface, but the talent level was definitely eroding in 1993 and 1994.

Ok, granted. Those teams were also very, very good. The 1991-1994 teams had the best defenses in school history, along with the 2003 team later on.

The Dennis slander on this board remains insane. He'd run circles around anyone who's come since. Frankly, he already did.

Yup it was clear as day when we got our asses handed to us in fiesta 29-0 I think vs Arizona w Teddy Bruschi

Then I watched butches first
Game live at rose bowl v UCLA
And Sharman Shaw shredded us and we got smoked 35-9 I think w Ray Lewis at MLB!

Dennis definitely let it slide

We could probably look back to 93 sugar when bama clocked us as the beginning of end

94 lose to Washington at home to break streak
Then
AZ stomps us out

Maybe. But we admittedly played like **** in that game. And the offense was the bigger issue all year with the rash of injuries at RB and OL.

But Rusty was a force multiplier and that defense would have been stratospheric with him.

The line already had Sapp, Krein, Patrick, Kenny Lopez, Pat Riley. Mark Caesar was a competent college player. Just ludicrous.
 
I know it rubs many here the wrong way but it’s my contrasting view even if I stand alone.

I will always support coach Corker , he kept the fires burning enough to get to a NC , I know the players loved him and played hard for him .

Begin feeding, it won’t change anything 🙌

My ******* dog could have coached that 2001 team to a national championship. Coker was pathetic
