you don't even know what you're talking about. Delete the thread. Garvin played the best out of anyone on defense may be besides bandy. He was spying and dropping into coverage all night, and when he wasn't he created pressure or drew a penalty

Patchan played better then Garvin I think for that game and Ros looked tentative thats an injury thing

I thought patachan did outplay Garvin. I got nothing for respect for Patachan, kid had like 7 ACL tears and is still playing hard.

wtf happenedt o Mallory dude is a monster...........the first drive we were going to him for a td but the OL fuqed us and we had to kick a FG. The one thing with JW is he held the ball cause of fear, i dont know if its first game jitters and not wanting to take risks but he cant fight himself out there. I get it though the OL can ruin u big time especially if its all time bad

I don't think that Garvin necessarily had a bad game. Schematically, he did what he was asked to do. I would've probably had someone else other than our best pass rusher spy on Franks. With regards to Patchan, IMO he outplayed everyone on defense not named Trajan Bandy.

Perhaps he was hampered by the scheme. He still wasn't getting home to the QB on plays when he needed to beat his blocker. Rousseau showed the most elite ability out of all of the DL. Very excited about him. I'd also like to see Garvin get after the QB some more. He just wasn't a factor in our pass rush and we need him to be.
 
I am not trying to dog out Patchan,, but homeboy was outmatched in the trenches plain and simple. He reminded me of how "Shayon Green" used to play for us during Alfredo's tenure - bend, but dont break non-sense.
Listen, #15 is a future NFL player period.. and i want to see more of T Hill as well. If Patchan starts again vs NC , im going to lose faith with the coaching staff's player evaluation.

Patchan wasn't outmatched. He played well vs the run.

Exactly. The grades for the game just came out and he scored the highest out of the entire D. I just don't understand why Patchan get such disrespect from our fanbase. He's a likeable kid and hasn't gotten in trouble. I don't get it. I'm thrilled to see him finally perform and on a national stage to boot. Whatever....

Because he didn't have 3 sacks. Same reason they are shîtting on garvin because he didn't have a bunch of sacks. That's the only way they know how to judge d-linemen.

Maybe he was asked to spy Franks because he’s what, 6’6” and 245lbs? We needed equal weight and speed to keep him contained?
 
Watch the film. Patchan is not better than Hill or Greg in the run game or pass. He’s getting the seniority start. Great rotational guy. I can see him over Hill if Hill doesn’t have the endurance yet, but there’s no excuse for him over Greg.
 
The defense was stout we beat ourselves Florida's dink and dunk offense is designed to get the ball out before the pass rush can get there 3 plays lost us this game even after all the other things.. muffed punt.. long ball.. missed tackle on a play that should've been 10 yards max

This.. unless they're making splash plays they're not good in the fans eyes.. I saw an aggressive but disciplined defense out there and they completely shut down the run and the Gators short pass attempts except one play.. The game was a defensive struggle that came down to a couple of big plays in the end.. I liked the fight in the team but I've seen fight before against quality opponents the key is can Manny get them to shake this off and play the same way against inferior opponents he accomplishes that and we're will be in Charlotte with a chance to redeem ourselves
