I see all these cries for getting Patchan out and replacing him with Rousseau and Hill, but please look at the game again. Patchan did more than recover that fumble. He had a solid game! He made tackles, he was consistent, he was around the ball. I like Garvin, but Spider was a ghost last night. His buzz is that he'll get sacks and pressure against anyone let alone a green OL, but he was quiet.

Leave Patchan in and put Rousseau as the other starter. That stated, they need to rotate 6 guys on the regular anyway, but some of you guys are believing the hype even after the game. Watch the tape. If Patchan plays like that the rest of the year, I will be happy.

Rousseau is coming off an injury and has yet to prove himself. Hill is getting into shape. Patachan is a target of fans who dont know anything.

I have to be misreading this.

Are you actually saying to bench Garvin in favor of Rousseau or any other lineman on this team?
It's more of a reaction to all of the naysayers regarding Patchan. Look, Garvin has earned the right to have an off game and still start next game, but objectively, Patchan did outperform him, so if the overreactors on this board think someone should lose their starting position because of the Gator game, it shouldn't be Patchan. That's all. I'm ready to see what happens against UNC.

Rousseau almost had a 2 sack 3 tfls game yesterday. He missed a sack but finished with 1 sack 2 tfls. He was the most disuptive with limited reps and what’s interesting if I’m not mistaken they actually rushed him on the Inside a little bit I think

Dude, delete this thread.

patachan didnt play a bad game. this board is unfair to him. He got held multiple times. hes disruptive. not a stud but he is not trash.
Hill will play more once he settles in

Patchan has always had a good motor plus he is a 10th year senior.

Patch was good for this game because he’s a little more stout vs the run and held his own. Going forward he should probably see less time he was outmatched athletically at times

Dude, no.

Good luck with this one then.

But I suggest you rewatch and see what Garvin's role was Saturday night before somehow coming to the conclusion Patchan playing well should result in our best and most proven lineman, by a gigantic margin, should be benched on the other side.

I actually thought Rousseau and Hill looked better than both the starters in the limited time they played. I like the mean streak that hill adds to the defense when he plays. I like Patchan but Rousseau is a freak and needs to play way more than he did in the last game.

Patchan was all over the place last night, in the thick of most plays

As I wrote earlier in the thread, my focus wasn't as much about benching Garvin as much as it was about pumping the breaks on discarding Patchan's play last night. I suggest you rewatch it as well. He was our most consistent DE last night. Let's make sure we put our best performers on the field regardless of preseason buzz.

The game plan had to have been to keep Franks in the pocket, dont let him beat you with his legs running on broken plays and QB designed runs. Basically take away what he is best at and make him beat you at what he's worse at....standing in the pocket, making reads, delivering accurate balls.

I don't think Garvin was asked to bend the corner and get after the QB. I think he was asked to make sure, when franks goes outside the pocket to chase him and put pressure on him. Great game plan and the DL pretty much did their job i thought. Tough loss, but even with Zion i think there was a lot more positives last night than negatives.

Except Campbell....that kid had a game he would never like to remember

Patchan was pretty solid in the run game but I still Wanted us to rotate more at end. Rousseau imo can be a true difference maker from what I saw
people dont realize how many kids are coming off injuries on this team. they have to be eased in. Gus was butchering careers.
