UNLV Matt Sluka-Sitting Out Due To NIL Dispute

I read all of the articles you attached. They don't support your argument, and it's clear that you don't actually know. I bet you also thought NIL would be bad for Miami too. Turns out to be really great.
@Rellyrell less than 2 weeks here.

Oh, u got me there, bucko. I wish I would’ve seen ur join date b4 I responded.

Only on CiS would “fans” argue that the pos NCAA, who has ****ed us every chance it’s gotten, should regain power. This system works ALOT better for Miami, hence why the typical SEC **** suckers are now up in arms.

Get your agreements in writing and it solves 99.9% of these “problems”. Going back to any system which gives the NCAA even a modicum of more power would be the death knell for programs like Miami.

Not one person on this board is arguing that the NCAA should regain power. Lmao.

Seems obvious the kid's agent is to blame.

The collective has no signed contract.

The kids dads is only talking about verbal deals.

Not sure I trust the kids dad too much either. His comment about having many other deals 5xs more than the UNLV deal sounds like total BS. No agent would allow the kid to go to a school for 5 times less with no signed contract,

i hope y'all realize you cant just "make this like the NFL"
the end product wouldnt resemble ANYTHING close to the CFB you have watched and loved
this is a slippery *** slope we're on with the sport we fckn love and the brain trust involved i wouldnt trust to boil water
This I agree with. The real value in CFB is the logo on the side of the helmet, not the name on the back of the jersey. It's the fans' diehard obsession with the actually university. The more you divorce CFB from the school, the more likely it is that the product suffers. You could take all these Power 4 players and put them in a farm league and NOBODY would watch that product. People show up to games and turn on their TVs because of the schools that are playing, not the players.

Is there a way to move toward a NFL-like model while retaining that very close university affiliation? I think so, but it's a very narrow road in my opinion.

The beautiful thing about pay for play is that it has the potential to level the playing field by lessening the meaningfulness of the under-the-table cheating that goes on. I think we are already seeing the benefits of that. How could you eliminate it altogether? You could implement a draft. But recruiting is part of the draw of CFB. How significant is recruiting to the value of the product? Hard to say.

I think the powers that be have to find a way to compensate the players in a fair way that also promotes a level playing field, while retaining the things that drive the real value of CFB...the connection to the universities, rivalries, and recruiting.

Who knows though. Maybe CFB fans would geek out even harder over scouting combines and drafts for CFB than they do over recruiting.

Of what 12k?.

They played dude and thought he would just go for it i guess.
No one will ever know the story because its a one sided story, just his. The university or HC will never ever comment about. When I say ******* himself its because he is choosing not to play with his teammates. Not a good look. Again, Im all for NIL but this is still college football. at some point do you want to play ball or no? Most of them are going pro in something other than football so choose your path wisely

@Rellyrell you in here getting pack out man fight back ......

I do remember you was against NIL too....

Packed out by who? Lol. Blood, pah-leese

I wasn’t against NIL, I’ve never been against NIL. I’ve remained steady that the ambiguous language w/ zero guidelines were the issue, & guess what? It’s been an issue. Lmao

U think this UNLV situation is unique, my ninja? Lol. The only reason why we know of this matter is b/c this has been the best start for UNLV in yrs, & they r now a G5 team on the radar for CFP since they beat two of their hardest opponents. If UNLV was 0-3 we wouldn’t even know about this. Lol.

Just like ya’ll don’t know of all the players left in the portal never to be heard of again, u just hear about the success stories, there’s tons of NIL mishaps. So I’ll let these ninjas slap honey on themselves, sliding across the floor w/ the finest Johnson & Johnson baby oil fit from the house of Diddy, but everything I’ve said thus far, has come to fruition.

We’ve seen schools renege, students trying to strong arm for more $$, bigger schools become even more potent b/c of what they can offer; BUT, b/c we got a couple of players, which have now taken our record to 16-13 during this new era, everything is awesome (in my Lego’s voice). Lol.

Ninjas want CFB to mimic The NFL, where the NFL is ran by private billionaires that’s getting subsidies, & we think small private institutions w/ limited resources are going to keep up w/ public institutions w/ state funding. L-O-L.

CIS is always going to CIS; it’s the home of:
-Ryan Williams da Gaw
-A 3* So Fla kid is a 5* elsewhere
-Every recruit is elite
-U don’t need a blue QB to win
-Mark Walton is better than Saquon
-Etc. Etc.

Once upon a time I used to believe in CIS’ narratives, also once upon a time I used to think Top Ramen was fine dining, then I grew up.

It’s laughable to say that there are no rules to govern NILs. There sure as **** is: contract law and whatever, statutory laws were implemented by the states.

What no one should want is an unelected body, the NCAA, governing anything to do with this.

I, personally, am looking forward to the day that Miami, Southern Cal, and SMU are annually kicking the teeth out of the “blue blood” programs.
